The food here was delicious. The service both times we came has been poor.
Read moreThe kitchen also closes earlier than expected. Google lists the cafe as closing at 3:00pm. We arrived at 1:50pm and the kitchen was closed. If this happens to you, there is a Thai place next door with clearly labelled vegan options that is open a little later.

I love brunching here - the owner always does his best to accommodate seating requests even when they're super busy (which is most of the time!), the menu has plenty of vegan options and the staff are lovely. Oh and the view ain't bad! Great spot to start the day.

Local press is a favourite! The food is inventive and tasty! Many vegan options and delicious plant based drinks and deserts. The staff are always super friendly and the location on the front of the kingston foreshore is incredible. Even the inside of the cafe looks gorgeous. Great vibes! The Vegan Crepe and Vegan Tacos are epic!

When i first saw Local Press I was filled with socio-status-based apprehension. The parishioners of this glam-rustic chapel looked like yacht-owning, 6-figure-earning, baseball-cap-and-sunglass-wearing and I was a high-vis persona non grata (I had to look that up).
Read moreStanding uncomfortably at the front counter, I was gently massaging an arch of concrete with the toe of my boot when one of the most delightful serving hosts approached and asked if i wanted to take a seat while i decided on the menu. THE MOST DELIGHTFUL. No [censored]. Not even joking.
I gratefully took a seat and went about enjoying a great vegan meal at a reasonable price. The beetroot amd caraway seed loaf was just boss. Yep.
Great staff, friendly beyond vocational requirements, and lovely enough to ask whether honey was ok in my turmeric soy latte. Lovely space and a very nice atmosphere (once insecurities were addressed).

Cons: Not a lot of vegan options but a coupla crackers

Super friendly staff and incredibly fast service. The food was so fresh and tasty - I had the Breaky Bowl and an Immunity Booster smoothie and was not disappointed at all. Not a huge amount of vegan options but the few they have are delicious!

Enjoyable breakfast - Edit
We enjoyed sharing two dishes for breakfast, the Springtime Breaky Bowl and Beetroot and Caraway Loaf. We shared the vegan banana bread for dessert which was delicious. Coffee was good too, staff were friendly and it’s a lovely location. We were very pleased to find a place with vegan and gluten free options!

Hard to find - Edit
Took me and my fiancé an hour and a half to find this place because the address and shop are labelled wrong. Staff wasn't so friendly. I'll update this when I can try the food....

Vegan & gluten-free: yes please! - Edit
A limited menu which is changed regularly. I’ve always been able to order a vegan and gluten-free dish and it’s always been delicious. The setting is relaxed and comfy. Perfect for summertime lunches with a view over the lake.
