Best place for veg food in El Chaltén - Edit
This is the only vegetarian/vegan restaurant in El Chaltén now. There used to be another vegan restaurant nearby but they seem closed. Most dishes are vegan-friendly but they're not labelled as such on the menu. I had the oyster mushroom and veggie sandwich, the gnocchi Bolognese, and the locro. Everything was flavorful and hearty and came in a generous portion - much needed after a long day of hiking! The locro was especially unique. It was a corn and bean stew topped with vegan chorizo and fried tofu. I had the locro as part of a daily special, which includes a main dish and a glass of wine for 30,000 pesos. It's overall quite expensive but that's to be expected in El Chaltén.

Delicious pasta and friendly atmosphere - Edit
We walked past this restaurant on the way from the bus station to our hostel and immediately vowed to return that night. The atmosphere was charming and the menu, despite its small size, offered a nice variety of vegetarian and vegan choices.
Read moreWe went for Sorrentinos and Gnocchi, one with the 'filet and cream' (traditional tomato and cream sauce) and the other with vegetable bolognese. The food was simple, but delicious and we were definitely glad we had come. The staff were very friendly and offered advice in English. A great experience all round!
We didn't try the barbecue or sandwich but they both looked great, and enormous!
Pros: Friendly staff, Pasta, Wine

So good! - Edit
Their BBQ platter was unbelievable. So many distinct flavors, almost like a charcuterie board of vegan delights.

Super recomendable! - Edit
Parrillada vegana para compartir con seitan y girgolas verduras asadas, 10 de 10. Fuimos dos veces de lo rico que estaba todo. Prueben también el sándwich de gírgolas. Exquisito!

Generous portions, authentic, delish - Edit
We had salad, veg locra, veg paradilla, and a sandwich. Portions were huge, even the (free) appetizer. Menu is not excessive, but the quality is great. Rustic, not pretentious, we went back 4 times.

The spot to try some veganized versions of Argentinan dishes - Edit
I went to Lo del Manu because all other vegan/vegetarian places in town were closed, but was not disappointed. The staff is really friendly and walked me through the menu explaining which options were vegan. I opted for the vegan barbecue, with lots of different roasted vegetables, tofu, seitan and homemade vegan chorizo. The tofu was the only one I didn't love as it was too dry, but the rest - especially the vegan chorizo - was amazing. The portion was huge so I ended taking half of it as take away.

Good dishes, took a bit - Edit
The food we had was generally very good. I got the vegan gnocchi bolognese, which was mostly very good but a little watery. My husband got the vegan locro which had delicious salsa to go with it.

A good stop for a dinner - Edit
The dishes we tried (Milanese De Seitan and Locro Veggie) were wonderful, tasty as we imagined. The local is not as cosy as it could be, but the waitress is very helpful and kind.
Read moreThe price is indeed a bit high even for current argentinian standard, but if you're here as a tourist we bet you could easily afford this well deserved one night out

Cosy place and super friendly staff - Edit
We had the Parilla which was phenomenal. The amount of food was enormous and you better be hungry for it.
Read moreThe food was really delicious, well seasoned and creative.
The staff lady was really friendly too.
Some commented it was pricey but I haven't come across any cheap food in El Chaltén, so there's that.
Pros: Quantity, Quality, Lovely staff
Cons: Can't think of any

Vegetarian restaurant with vegan options - Edit
Vegetarian restaurant with mostly vegan food or food that can be made vegan. We had the Parrillada Veggie dinner and it was delicious, and a ton of food. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was good. The only downside was that it was pricey.

Couldn’t really evaluate - Edit
Unfortunately, this place was not yet posted on happycow and I found it the very last day. I could not eat here but I took out and I spoke with the staff. I was told almost everything on the menu is vegan, or can be made vegan, except one empanada, the “pasta rellena” (filled pasta, ex: sorrentinos) and the strudel. They have a daily menu but not everyday, more likely on weekends, and it is most often vegetarian. The daily menu is a cheap option while the menu a la carte is quite expensive, especially the mock meat dishes. I took out one vegan empanada (and got two because they overheated it too much, i guess) and the ‘morci’ sandwich. Morci is morcilla = blood sausage. I don’t know the taste of the cruelty version but this one was just a spicy beans burger with raisins in the mixture. Savory and a bit sweet as well. Again not bad but way too expensive.

Nice vegan options - Edit
Loved the spicy soup! Was very excited to be able to try locro stew veganized. It is a vegetarian restaurant but there are a few vegan items and they were happy to explain/accommodate. Lunch time only had the meal of the day which wasn’t vegan so they heated up the vegan sandwich for me😄

Cons: Lunch was only menu of the day, Vegetarian restaurant , Not many vegan desserts
