Vegan options but haven't had a vegan menu since Covid days - Edit
I love this place and have been coming here for years. I love the cauliflower steak with the smoked baby red potatoes. The sauce on the cauliflower is addictive. It's what I order 100% of the time. We also sometimes get the VO charred broccoli & truffle fries which are amazing. The cauli steak is not on their menu, which is bothersome because it's absence on the menu make me nervous every time that they no longer make it.
Read moreI don't like that they will not accommodate someone who needs to avoid oil. Every one of their dishes is drenched in oil. I called once to ask if they could prepare anything at all that is vegan without oil. The woman (I believe it was the owner but not certain) said that there is not a single thing they can make without oil. Because of this reason, we only go to LJ's a few times a year. If they would prepare something vegan without it being drenched in insane amounts of oil, we'd go much more often.
It's puzzling to me that such a creative & fabulous chef is unable to prepare a dish with minimal or minus oil. It's very simple to do! If this could be accomplished, the restaurant could earn a spot on the map of PlantPure Communities, a worldwide nonprofit organization that millions of people use to locate restaurants that offer vegan and oil-free options for those who are health-minded.

Cauliflower Steak 🔥 - Edit
The vegan cauliflower steak was amazing & the portion was hefty! The seasoning on the cauliflower was very tasty and flavorful. The green beans and smashed red potatoes were great but the marinated mushrooms were probably favorite! It’s $21 but I would definitely get it again.

Best Vegan Options in Lake Stevens - Edit
The CAULIFLOWER STEAK with smoky potatoes, veggies and mushrooms with red wine glaze is my go to. The red wine glaze makes the whole dish sing. Such flavor! Also their SMOKED GOUDA MAC & CHEESE can be made vegan with cashew cheese and caramelized onions which is ridiculously delicious! Huge portion size on that so it’s a meal in itself. The Brussels sprouts are great too, a little oily but delish. If you’re sharing with someone you can get all three! 😜
Read moreUpdate: ordered the Brussels spouts to go a couple times lately and they are not oily anymore. The restaurant is now putting an oily green pesto type sauce in a separate container to which you can put on as much or as little as you like. Brilliant! Can’t say enough good things about LJ’s.

The Mac and cheese was delicious but it was the only vegan option for an entree. We ordered the charred broccoli, expensive at $12, portion was small for the price. Vegan option for truffle fries and bread were not amazing. Nice to have a vegan option to eat with family, but I wouldn’t come back here for the food alone.

The restaurant was very classy and they have a separate vegan menu to order from. I ordered the pepper crusted cauliflower steak and it was delicious! The smoked potatoes were amazing and the food was great quality and the service was good. Highly recommend for a date night or dinner with friends.

I ordered the mac & cheese with Gardein steak. It was sooooo delicious! Very creamy and had lots of sauce. The ‘steak’ and caramelized onions were a perfect pairing. You can choose that, serrano peppers, or one other option (forgot).

Worth it! Great vegan options, great service! - Edit
We asked for a vegan menu from the hostess before being seated during a very busy happy hour on a Friday afternoon. The hostess had great things to say about the vegan options and recommendations. Our server was very friendly, polite and accommodating. She wanted to be sure all our questions were answered (we had no questions and she seemed relieved). Our food was awesome. We had a veggie flat bread, truffle fries and a house salad. I absolutely loved my lavender lemondrop cocktail. Good to see more mainstream restaurants/bars offering more vegan options.

Vegan Dinner Menu - Edit
They just added a vegan dinner menu which is pretty cool. I went there for brunch and there was some confusion with the waitress about what could be made vegan on the brunch menu (I was asked how serious I was about it being made vegan) I was also told I could not order off the dinner menu for brunch. She eventually checked with the cook and came back with a couple of options that could be veganized. Overall the food was good and after a rocky start the service was good as well. I’m rating it a 3 due to lack of options and the wait staff not being very knowledgeable. I hope they plan on adding more options soon because I would go back again.
