everything vegan is also GF

Another business that thinks everything vegan has to also be gluten free. What a disappointment. A whole case dedicated to gluten free options and maybe a single item that was vegan but not GF.

This place is great if you’re rich enough to have a made up food intolerance, or if you like pastries that taste like sand. If you’re vegan for ethical reasons, you’re out of luck.

Hi VeganMac,

We wanted to kindly clarify a few things in your review. Our bakery, Sweet Nothings, is 100% gluten-free — not because we believe everything vegan must also be gluten-free, but because we serve a community with gluten allergies, celiac disease, and sensitivities who deserve safe and delicious options.

It’s worth noting that you’ve never purchased from us, so the assumptions about our products’ quality and flavor are unfortunately unfounded. Our gluten-free and vegan items are made from scratch with care, and the idea that they “taste like sand” doesn’t reflect the feedback we get from our loyal customers — many of whom come back week after week for our pastries, cakes, and custom creations.

If you’re looking for traditional vegan baked goods with gluten, we understand we may not be the right fit. But for those seeking allergy-safe, thoughtfully crafted treats, we’re proud to fill that gap. We hope that in the future, reviews can be rooted in actual experience rather than assumptions.

Wishing you well,
Sweet Nothings

Cute place with a few options

Delicious baked goods and drinks. Set in a communal baking space, the items rotate according to the bakeries currently there and what they offer. When I went, they didn't have very many vegan options and no ice cream, but they had a few macaron and other goods. Owner is super friendly and staff is knowledgeable about what is and isn't vegan!

Pros: Tasty Vegan options, Friendly staff, Local businesses

Cons: Could use more vegan options

⭐️⭐️

The texture for the vegan macarons is off. I was excited to see a local vegan macaron but I’ll stick to paying more to have macarons shipped from Sweet Maresa’s in NY. FWIW my boyfriend said the non-vegan macarons were fine.

Tried again 6 months later: texture for vegan macarons is still waaay off. If you have them and think they’re good, please order macarons online from Sweet Maresa’s for comparison some time. This time Boozie Bakes had a vegan cupcake so I was super excited to try it. Turns out it was the soggiest cupcake I’ve ever experienced. (My hands were sticky just from holding the cupcake liner.) Two other ppl tried it & came to the same conclusion so it wasn’t just me. One friend had a nonvegan cupcake for comparison and did not have the same problem. Vegan cupcake ended up in the trash along with my hopes and dreams. I feel like a jerk typing this, but have the bakers here ever had good vegan desserts?

Bold Batch Ice Cream is delish!

Bold Batch Ice Cream operates out of the Bakehouse and does scoops and pints. The night we went they only had 1 type of vegan scoop (I’m personally not a fan of coffee ice cream), but their pints list is quite extensive so I ended up just getting a pint which was wonderful. They also had quite a handful of vegan baked goods to choose from and even a vegan ice cream cookie sandwich. But wait! They also have vegan waffle cones if you get a scoop!!! I’ve never seen a vegan waffle cone so I was very impressed. Next time I hope to get a scoop so I can try the waffle cone.

Love this place

I love this place! They are right next to the movie theater so neat to pop in before or after a movie. They have plant milks and each vendor inside has at least 1-2 vegan options. Staff is super friendly and can tell you what all is vegan.

Reliable Rotation of Vegan Options

This is an amazing location, and while the location mainly serves non-vegan items, there are always at least 2-3 vegan options per business here (for a total of around 8-12 options each week), from ice cream, baked goods, macarons, and coffee/tea. All staff members are knowledgeable about the vegan options, even when not explicitly listed (such as the coffee syrups), and some staff members are vegan.

Pros: Good-tasting vegan offerings, Knowledgeable and helpful staff, Chill atmosphere

Cons: Only 2-3 vegan options per business
