Lilliana's is now Ollie's

Lilliana's had some vegan options by special request, but revamped as Ollie's, it now has a full vegan menu separate from conventional menu (possible cross contamination). Fast and friendly service. I recommend the vegan truffle fries and vegan mac n cheese deep dish pizza. My wife said falafel was just OK.

Pros: Now renamed Ollie's., Full vegan menu (in addition to conventional menu), Great service and atmosphere.

Cons: Possible cross contamination with nonvegan kitchen

Room for Improvement

A cute and fancy piece of Nawlins nestled in the outskirts of Madison, WI. Inside is decked out with Mardi Gras masks and lots of Fleur de Lis. The dining room was reminiscent of the Quarter with a working fountain and a Bourbon St style balcony. Service and the food were just ok. I understand that this is Wisconsin, not New Orleans, LA, but if you're serving food and calling it cajun, you need to come correct. (They came a lil sideways...maybe zigzag.)

KOREAN BBQ SEITAN:
$16 - Came with 2 round patties (think Salisbury steak), complete with grill marks. I tasted zero remnants of BBQ, so I'm unsure why that was part of the name. I wasn't bad, but it wasn't necessarily good either; I couldn't quite figure it out. It was interesting. However, the sweet potato puree and charred asparagus, which was hiding underneath the seitan patties, were both delicious! I could've used more of both and would've been satisfied with this dish. Vegan

RED BEANS & RICE (vegan version):
$15 - It looked great. It smelled great, yet the delivery fell short. It had a distinct sweetness to it, but no spice, little flavor, and no cajun soul. I doused it in some of their homemade hot sauces, but I couldn't save this dish. Oh, the possibilities. *insert sad face* And I have to admit, I was a little jealous of my friend's cornbread with jalapeño butter. Neither was vegan, so I couldn't eat it, but it made me really want a vegan version, which would go perfectly with some good, vegan red beans & rice.

CHOCOLATE CAKE:
$6 - A vegan and gluten free piece of chocolate cake with chlocolate and raspberry drizzle. I appreciate that they even offer a vegan dessert at a non-veg restaurant, but it wasn't anything to write home about. It was ok though.

Like with the dessert, I love that they are so vegan friendly, but everything I ordered just didn't live up to its potential or expectation. Even the hot tea was generic; I'd have been better off at Starbucks. Based on my experience, I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I recommend that you at least try it for yourself.

Out of tofu 😔

We went here for a special birthday dinner, and I had checked the menu ahead of time to see what I wanted. We got to the restaurant and were given menus and water. When the server came to take our order, we were informed that they were out of tofu...which were the feature of the appetizer and entree I wanted to try. The food we got was tasty, but was not what I had been anticipating. Also, for the price of the meals, I expected more attention from our server.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Cons: Expensive, Lackluster service

great for a sit down dinner

If you like creole or Cajun food this a fun place. They have a separate vegetarian menu available and the menu items change seasonally. Atmosphere can be either a fancier dinner or casual depending on what you and/or your group are in the mood for.
