A pearl between the rocks

The best restaurant in Albania, a pearl between the rocks.
We had to go up many stairs to the restaurant, which was not easy in the 40 degree heat, but it was worth it. Lili is the most friendliest person that we ever met. He immediately brought water and pushed together us two tables. He speaking in many different languages, explaining all the dishes to everyone. The eggplant, dolma, lamb, fergesë were heavenly, amazing, so delicious that it cannot be described in words. Lili told me that the wine was made by her father. After lunch he offered us raki and then we got some fruit from him.
Those traveling to Albania are obliged to go to this restaurant, Lili should not be missed!

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Good value

Best evening in Albania

Small menu, two vegan dishes, two vegetarian and three with meat. Plus two salad options. Nice homemade wine and raki. And the Most amazing host ever! I went there alone and ended up drinking raki with six more people in front of the restaurant til 11p.m. It was such a fun evening!!!

Pros: Two complete vegan options, Delicious and homemade, Good value for Money

Cons: You can‘t stay forever (I wish I could😉)

Amazing food - amazing experience

Food is fantastic, but it’s also Lili the host who makes this dining experience so damn special.
During September when we have been there every evening was fully booked, so try to make a reservation in advance.

Best place in Berat

Lili is the most friendly person you could ever meet. He loves his job and makes everything to make you feel comfortable. He helped me to find vegan options that his wife eventually cooked for us. It’s all fresh and tasty, the portions are very big. Atmosphere is great. Highly recommended!

Great host, good food

Lili, the owner is the most energetic and customer centered owner I've met for a long time. Flamboyant and happy, he seemed delighted by our custom and happily told us about his vegan options.

We had his tomato tolma, stuffed aubergine and 2 salads. All good but the aubergine stole the show - so flavourful!

When we cleared our played he was delighted that we liked it so much. Highly recommended even if it's just to meet this man!

5 stars !!!!

We tried this restaurant top-rated on TripAdvisor and it definitely worth the try ! Lily is the kindest person we have met during our trip in Albania! We even played with his cute dog and visited his garden!

We tried almost all the dishes! There is a lot of vegetarian choices and Lili’s wife is a really good cook! Eggplants was excellents And vegan. Stuffed rice tomatoes were vegan too! The byrek (spinach and cheese feuilleté) was the best we tried in this country!

They opened a cute little terrace in their own house and makes you feel at home! We even passed by his street the next day and Lili invited us for a Turkish coffee (Best coffee we had in Albania) and raki !

I definitely recommend this place for the quality of the food, the incredible service and the experience !

We love Lili !!!!!

A true delight! Just know what you're getting yourself into.

First off, if you have problems with mobility, you prolly can't get there because you have to climb steep slippery craggy rock stairs and ramps up the scenic hillside. If you have a strict commitment to sobriety, maybe avoid because there's a non-zero chance the owner will, in a show of traditional hospitality, basically force you to drink raki. Refusing will be a grave insult.

With that said, it's a really lovely place. This family set up a restaurant in the courtyard of their house and serve up traditional Albanian food, which includes some vegan options like stuffed eggplant and stuffed tomatoes and some salads. The owner is a ball of happy hospitable energy and is very proud of what they're doing. He serves wine his father makes and speaks a zillion languages (my girlfriend briefly chatted with him and Turkish and me in German). He is somewhat apologetic that his prices are "high" cuz entrees cost around 600lek (Antipatrea in the castle serves almost identical dishes for 300), but that's still less than $6, so whatever.

He was dismayed when we tipped him, presumably cuz he owns this place. After a few exchanges he said he would only accept it on the condition that we drink more raki. While I am sober in normal life, there was no refusing this man, so I got drunk for the first time in a zillion years. I'm not mad, tho, and I would def go back if I end up in gorgeous Berat again.

Pros: Great service, Great food, Great vibe

Cons: Intoxication

I was with someone who doesn’t drink who said no and Lili wasn’t offended at all. You don’t have to say yes
