New experience - Edit

This was my first hotpot experience and I liked it. We were 2 so we could chose 2 broths, we took the tomato and Chinese herbs. The buffet was big I think. I have no idea what it all was but because I knew it was all vegetarian I was happy to try some new things. I didn't like the things with fake meat. But most things are fresh vegetables and mushrooms. Together with a drink and dessert it was about 500 NTD per person. People were very friendly but didn't speak much English. Very nice place!

Nice soup base with good variety - Edit

The buffet is about roughly about NT500 per person which I thought is good value.

What I like is that you can choose up to 3 soup bases (whereas most restaurant allows at most 2). The tomato base was good -- made from lots of chopped tomatoes. My family like the herbal soup most. The third was a Thai soup base - which I thought would be the Thai tom yam soup but it was nothing like that. If you are familiar with authentic Thai tom yam soup, this will be a disappointment.

There is a good variety of ingredients though nothing very special. The usual fresh vegetables and fake meat. I thought the selection of fake meat was rather disappointing. One thing special was there was coral jelly (aka "sea bird nest") -- but don't cook too long, it dissolves into the soup and thickens it.

There are also some cooked dishes which are not bad. I like the fresh fruits -- passion fruits and pineapple that was very sweet.

There is also a good selection of Meiji ice cream.

There is supposed to be a 100 min limit. But we were there on a late Saturday afternoon and it was not crowded. They let us take our time.

Pros: good value, tasty soup base

Cons: a bit of walking from the nearest MRT

Great Vege Hotpot Restaurant - Edit

As StephieLin said this is a great Hotpot restaurant, with delicious broths and a wide range of foods for the hotpots. But I'd just like to add a few details.

Indeed it's not all vegan (Happycow updated). Some non-vegan items are labelled, but they also serve some fake meat items (eg in the sushi) which may well not be vegan, so I would suggest avoiding them given the scandals around fake meat here. Same goes for some of the milky-looking sauces. There are plenty of fresh delicious vegetables and tofu products.

During my visit they also served one sorbet, along with a nice fruit spread for dessert. Their condiments and sauces are also amazing.

My dinner cost 500NT, which is good value for what it is. If you are in Taipei for a short time and will have one hotpot experience I recommend the Guangfu Loving Hut, and if you'll have just one all-you-can-eat experience I suggest making it at Fruitful Food (both not far away) but if you live here or have more time, or are just in the area this is a great restaurant - do try it!

Pros: all-you-can-eat hotpot, mostly vegan, nice interior and vibe

Simple, Healthy and Filling - Edit

I've been to Like Lotus Hot Pot twice now and each visit has been very satisfying. The soup base is less greasy compared to other vegan/vegeterian hot pot restaurants (e.g. Carefully Addictive Hot Pot). They offer a wide variety of fresh vegetables, whole foods and some faux meat. Some items on the shelf are not vegan but they have labels to point those out.

The overall dinning experience was really good. I would definitely return to the place for another massive feed.

Pros: Healthy , Fresh, Filling
