Amazing food and lovely ambiance

The restaurant is located in a beautiful alley of Volterra, right next to the main square. You will have 4 choices of appetisers, 4 pastas, 4 main courses, 4 desserts and about 6 pizzas. We had the pici cauliflower and pepper (they tasted nothing like cauliflower and absolutely the same as a cacio e pepe) and the tagliatelle chard and pistachio. Both were absolutely amazing. We then had the mixed fry and it was heavenly! Loved the place! Not too expensive either to be honest ✨️

Excellent

A very great restaurant with plant based food. We ordered the Aubergine Parmigiana and Ancient Tagliatelle. The food is delicious and it came quickly. For dessert I had the chocolate pie. Quite expensive though.

Nice italian food

Had to wait quite long, but luckily the food was very delicious. If you don’t order a pizza, it can be quite expensive, because just a main course would have not been enough.
So if you have time, and budget for multiple courses or just want a pizza, its well worth it.

Pros: The amount of options, The taste, Location

Cons: Waiting time, Price

Amazing flavor

We happened upon Life Bistrot when visiting Volterra for the day and what an amazing chance. We got the zucchini soup, handmade gnocchi, melon risotto, and tiramisu- wow! I wish I was a gnocchi so I could swim in the sauce. If we were staying closer, I could happily eat here every day, tasting my way through the whole menu.

Pros: Completely vegan, Local ingredients , Friendly staff- family business

Delicious!

I loved the venue, the place has a see-through floor through which you can see stones from the Roman era, the Medieval era, etc.

The food was great, the flavours complemented each other very well and it was plated beautifully. Also delicious house wine (white wine).

The host was very kind and super involved in his job, the restaurant seemed to really be his passion which was lovely.

An absolute 10/10, and if you decide to visit Volterra, absolutely go here!

Pros: Delicious food — organic and in season., Lovely venue!, Kind host.

Excellent vegan food in Tuscany

100% vegan food with a great menu card and very friendly service. We had the Aubergine Pamigiarni and ancient wheat Tagliatelle. A glass of the red house wine and a Tiramisu as dessert made it a perfect experience.

Toscanità conservata

Per convincere gli scettici che dicono che i vegani mangiano solo insalata scondita!

Pros: Tutto plant based, Segue la stagionalità, Ottimi piatti

Best vegan food in Tuscany

Tuscany is not easy for vegan food, so it was a very pleasant surprise to find a fully vegan restaurant in a small town like Volterra.

The food at Life Bistrot was so good that my friend and I went there for both lunch and dinner. So we really got to try quite a bit of the food there and everything was really good.

The place is also really special as you can some of the ancient structures it is built on through the glass floor!

The owner is a very friendly man and really knows how to treat his guests in a way that makes them want to come back.

Absolutely recommend this restaurant!

Pros: Great food, Friendly owner

Fantastic!

Everything is plant based and delicious we had chapati with spiced lentils to start with followed by gnocchi with eggplant parsley & garlic for my husband while l had the Cotto di grano, with grilled vegetables and potatoes.
The Cotto do grano was excellent made purely from organic flour spices etc it resembled meat and was absolutely delicious. My husband who was a massive meat eater prior to going vegan loved this dish very-much!
The place is beautiful and service was excellent- what more can l say??

Pros: All plant based, Delicious food, Beautiful surroundings

Cons: Nothing!

Best Plant Based Food in Italy

We drove 50mins to this beautiful town to try this restaurant and were blown away . The highlight was Cotto di grano which was simply sublime and one of the most amazing plates of food I have add .
The restaurant is situated in a beautiful cobble stone street .
Worth a visit , you will not be disappointed!

Coolest restaurant in the world

Best food I had in Italy. The floor is clear so you can see historic ruins under the building. The entire experience of being in the old city and eating there is one of my most cherished memories.

Pros: Amazing food, Most unique interior design I’ve ever seen, Beautiful historic setting

Excellent Italian Food

Excellent vegan food, served by very friendly and enthusiastic staff in a great atmosphere. We had a perfect lunch with primo (Risotto, Pici Pasta), secondo (Parmigiana - delicious!) and dessert (Tiramisu, Apricot Tarte) and will be back to try the pizza. Everything tasted great, if I have to pick one thing to recommend it would probably be the Parmigiana.

Update: We went back to try the pizza which was also delicious and Volterra is definitely worth a visit (or two). ☺️

Highly recommended

Great food, ambiance and service in a beautiful street. Dishes were good and it was great to taste some 'veganized' local cuisine in what seems to be sort of a vegan desert.

Great restaurant and atmosphere.

We recently discovered the Happy Cow app and used it for the first time to find a restaurant with at least vegetarian options. When searching for a restaurant in Volterra we found Life Bistrot which we chose to visit because of the reviews and the lovely location.
The waiter was really friendly and enthusiasticly explained the 100% plant based concept of the restaurant. He made us feel very welcome and was seemingly happy that we chose this restaurant exaxtly because of this concept.

The terrace is in a lovely narrow street and the food was really good.
