Two of us had a great lunch at Upton's Breakroom. I tried two of the sandwiches on the menu that day, and both were a treat. The staff were also above-and-beyond friendly. I should note that the seating is very limited.

Of all the incredible vegan restaurants in Chicago, this is my favorite. Everything I’ve ever gotten was amazing and delicious. They should turn Nature Yoga Sanctuary’s restaurant into a second Upton’s! (Same owner(s) The name is confusing and long and they’re menu items aren’t nearly as good, so just make an Upton’s Oak Park, k? Pretty please?! I promise we’ll eat there all the time, if you do! Pinky promise. K, thanks! But, seriously Upton’s is the BEST!!!!!!!

Service was nice, location is small with a lot on the menu. Portions were large. We had the bacon mac (very good), kale salad with seiten (large portion, quite good), banh mi (good sandwich but not a traditional banh mi) and Brussels (fantastic). The two of us were FULL!

This place is incredible!!! The cafe itself is very small (has 8 seats) so take out may be necessary depending on the crowd. I’ve ordered the breakfast sandwich for delivery with bacon Mac and both were awesome. But when we went in we got THE BEST SOFT SERVE IVE EVER TASTED. I also ordered the brunch plate and cheesy potatoes (had to take some of my meal home) and loved every last bite. I don’t think there’s anything on this menu that isn’t to die for. Highly, highly recommended!

You can order delivery via grub hub and Postmates. The burger is one of the best I’ve ever had. Fantastic flavor. The kale salad is as equally good. Must order bacon Mac n cheese. Don’t forgot shake and cookie.

I'm so glad that I finally got to this place & although there was a long line on a Sunday afternoon I got to be seated at one pf the 3 tables that they have there. The food was excellent. I would go back again & again! I had the chickens seitan kale salad & the must have fried bacon mac that every one orders!

I got the bahn mi, mac, and soft serve of the day, which was a chai flavor. Bahn mi didn't have any great flavors, and was something I could have made for myself without spending $7. Mac was middle of the road. Chai soft serve was delicious, great texture and strong flavors, and I'm sure all of their soft serves are amazing.

The restaurant is in a weird location, surrounded by commercial buildings with few people walking out on the streets. The outdoor seating area isn't particularly pleasant -- thin, white metal chairs that blend in with a bland, concrete environment. The seating area is also awkward and narrow. Everything is served in disposable containers, which surprised and disappointed me.

Read moreWe also enjoyed a pumpkin spice shake (YUM) and the Bar-B-Que plate with fried bacon mac! So good. We wanted to get everything on the menu. Ample free parking in the area around the block when we visited on a Monday afternoon. Allow a little extra time for the food to be freshly prepared, it is worth the wait!
Pros: vegan deliciousness, awesome variety of items on menu, burgers and shakes and everything else!

Best Comfort Food in Chicago - Edit
Upton's is most likely my favorite restaurant in Chicago. You simply must go there if you enjoy comfort food. It is a bit out of the way, and they only have 8 seats (patio seating during the summer), but it is well worth the trip. Also, check their instagram/website to make sure they're open before going, they have been closed for maintenance before and I couldn't eat their delicious food.

I have been dying to go here for a long time after finding it on happy cow and good reviews from friends but I was sadly underwhelmed. The food was good but it wasn't show stopping. I was most excited about the Mac and cheese but I wasn't a fan with the bacon in it. ( you can't get just the Mac and cheese without bacon) My dad (not a vegan) said the nachos were okay but nothing crazy. Soft serve was good! I don't think I'll come back for lunch/dinner time but I still do wanna check them out for breakfast/brunch time! I still think you should make the trip if you are in the neighborhood though!

I went to Uptons twice in my recent trip to Chicago. The first trip for lunch was great! My husband and I split the Chicago Style Italian, the Togarashi bowl, and an order of fried bacon mac. I highly recommend the fried bacon mac, it's so good! The food is also reasonably priced and there is plenty of street parking.
Read moreThe second time was for lunch and it was okay, but I admit we were a little disappointed. We had the combo plate and the breakfast tacos with a side of brussels sprouts. The potatoes in both dishes were dried out and flavorless. The other food was mostly so-so, although the waffle in the combo plate was very tasty. and I also was a fan of the sprouts. We got monsoons to go, which I was told were like blizzards from DQ, however they were really rather thin chocolate shakes with some oatmeal cookie pieces (they were good, just not what I was expecting; I probably would have tried a malt instead). All in all, this is a pretty good place and I definitely would go again. I may stick to lunch rather than brunch, however.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch one Saturday, scarfing down Nachos, a Breakfast combo plate, and a vegan bacon cheeseburger. It was all delicious! The only thing that was just okay was an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I would come back here again in a minute but would skip the cookie next time.

I recently took a trip to Chicago, and this was my first stop. In fact, I went directly to Upton's from the airport after a long flight, and their food was the perfect antidote to my post-travel hunger and weariness.
Read moreI ordered the BBQ platter, which included a BBQ jackfruit sandwich with coleslaw, pickles, and bacon mac and cheeze. All of the food was incredible, especially the smokey bacon mac.
They have a huge array of menu items, all of which look delicious. I can't wait to come back and try more of their offerings.
