New name, new menu, for Tarbush

Tarnish revamped to Levante, much the same menu, although more effort for vegans. Everything now marked if V or VG, including a vegan pizza. They get honey dishes right but put the dishes with tartaro sauce are marked vegan but have yoghurt ( which they’ll take out when asked, leaving it plain tahini )

Pros: Cheap, just £2.50 for manikish, Lots of vegan options, Good mix of classic Lebanese and Syrian

Cons: Some vegan dishes not vegan, check for yoghurt, Tartaro sauce without yoghurt just plain tahini, Muhammara has that bitterness of puréed onion

One of the best and cheapest falafel sandwiches in Glasgow

Tarbush is really a fantastic place - they are very much not a vegan restaurant but like many middle eastern / syrian places there is an abundance of vegan options on offer. The falafel sandwich they offer is really large and at £4 cheap compared to other places in Glasgow.

The falafel are made from fava beans which gives them a very nutty and soft flavour. Both the tahini and chilli sauce are vegan and super flavoursome, as are the home made pickles in the sandwich.

My favourite though is the manakish za'atar, which you can't get at so many places in Glasgow, and certainly not in that quality!
