Great atmosphere - Edit
I support businesses that show respect to us (vegans). This one has an extensive, clear and separate menu. And while the knowledge of the individual staff might be not the greatest, they are from a rural Greek town in Crete so I think your expectations are way too high if you want anything more.
Read moreAlso, if you go to a restaurant like this and you choose the most boring western options, I’m not surprised if you are going to be disappointed.
I had the fava and the Pandora salad and I was very impressed. Absolutely delicious.
Pros: Lovely staff, Extensive menu, Great food
Cons: The physical restuarant has a different name, Some of the staff knowledge isn’t great

SCAM to the Vegan lifestyle - Edit
How can I even start to describe the experience there... In short, don't even bother to visit since the place is not a vegan friendly restaurant, rather just a brand name for vegan options on seperate menu.
Read moreThe place is owned by the restaurant next to it called Porto Parasiris and Let's Vegan is just some brand name to appeal to more tourists. So the place is defenetly not worth the mention on HappyCow nor the visit! I have learned this while visit there when I thought to my self "finaly some vegetarian restaurant with vegan options on Crete" which appered as 'Top rated' on HappyCow (so I wonder what kind of vegans/vegeterians visited it and rated it that well). When we sat down we were presented with two menues, the Let's Vegan one and the one from Porto Parasiris the menu for Let's Vegan probably wouldnt even come if we wouldnt ask up front if this is the restaurant in question. Even on the sign above the entry to the terace there is written "Plant based food" and after that "Fresh fish". Feeling there was like a scam to the vegan lifestyle, for which I'm certian they never heard about. Because I was starving and craving vegan food we sat down anyway....the menu for Let's Vegan place was an A3 format folded in half, with less offers than some non vegetarian/vegan restaurants on Crete. I ordered Mediterian burger for which it stated that you get salad and fries as well for 11,50€....what I got was a basic burger with few pices of fries (I make a better burger for my self in 5 min) defenetly not worth the price. And to round the bad experience up after we asked for the bill we were presented with non vegan Panacotta desert. I honestly hope no one will get fooled by this place ever again! Because it literaly killed the whole Cretan experience for me, where the locals working in restaurants are really nice trying to make the best out of your visit there, but this place left me with the worst restaurant experience I've ever had...
P.S.: I would rate it -5 starts if possible, but was forced to put 2 starts minimum because of HappyCow's policy.
Pros: Basicly nothing
Cons: Place owned by "normal" restaurant, Mediocore food, Got serverd with free but non vegan desert

DIsappointment - Edit
We orderd 2 appetizer and two Main courses. Lets start with the appetizer. Deepfried cheese. Worst expiriance of my life. Deep fried lentil potato smash or something. And for some reason both were cold inside... Main course the Mossaka was microwaved and was way to salt to even eat. Solvaki or something was tasteless and was cold when i got it.. this was the worst expiriance we had in crete.

The vegan moussaka was good but we had better ones. The mixed grill was dry but not bad. The vegan desserts were not available when we were there.

felt uncomfortable here - Edit
I can't agree with the good reviews. I was really looking forward to the restaurant, especially because there are not so many vegan alternatives in the area. The waiter was very unfriendly. There was a dead squashed ant sitting on my starter bread. The bread was not fresh either, think it had been lying around for some time. The dishes were not properly clean (knives and glass) and there were shoe prints on the table mat.... I felt very uncomfortable there and cannot recommend it. But the owner (a lady) was really nice and she brought me a free dessert. One star for that. The moussaka was okay. I would eat it again but it wasn't anything special either.

We went several times and tried many dishes and desserts. Our favourites were moussaka, mushroom carbonara and the meze side dishes. Nice seating too. Our toddler loved the sofa seating.

Solid - Edit
Nice to see a vegan place Many options but food was just average. The paella was more a risotto (no saffron and very creamy and wet). Service was nice and pricing okay. Matcha had a weird taste to it and there was loud music from the neighbouring places.

Great extensive menu, lovely staff - Edit
We loved the place. A-location on boulevard. The ravioli and dolmadakia were finger licking good. Especially the tzatziki with it was awesome. Super rich and creamy. We didn’t order chicken like nuggets but got them anyway. Very good. Almost the real thing. The garlic bread was dry and very plain. The moussaka was very disappointing. All together we loved the place and would go back.

Friendly, central, important - Edit
I enjoy going here… The restaurant has a laid back vibe with cozy setting, banana trees and colourful pillows. The staff is incredibly friendly and well spoken. The Pandora salad (my faaaav) is incredible, and this place is a great place to go with your NON-vegan friends and family, as they serve great and realistic alternatives to meat, like the “Beyond meat burger” etc. It’s also a place I enjoy visiting because I find it important to support these small vegan cafees and restaurants that can have an ever harder time surviving on islands ✨ Go vegan! ☀️🌟

A little pearl in Rethymno - Edit
A lovely staff, and a nice menu. Unfortunately, the pita sandwiches were no longer available when I went there, so that I took the whole Gyros plate, which costs much more. It was delicious and the Tzaziki was great. The slouvaki skewers were also amazing. Also the local handmade pasta dish (although pretty oily).
Read moreI found the rest to be so-so. The plates were pretty expensive with not very big portions. Most of the meat replacements are not homemade (fish burgers, Chicken filet etc). We had a coktail that was also no the greatest (very, very sweet). Overall a few good experiences, since the staff working here is very lovely and attentive. Also, this is actually the only (almost) fully vegan restaurant with so many options in the city.
Pros: located by the harbour, nice location, delicious homemade souvlaki & gyros, very friendly staff
Cons: Pita sandwich no longer available, pretty pricy, coktails were not that great

Everything was very nice 👌Simple Greek style dishes but veganised. We had toasted bread with tomato and olive oil dip plus fried vegan cheese for starters. And for main vegan gyros and souvlaki with pita bread, fried potatoes, tzatziki and side salad.

Amazing! - Edit
My partner and I had such disappointing veggie / vegan options at our hotel (silly us for going all inclusive), and decided to venture out for dinner. We are SO glad that we had happy cow to point us here. The ‘chicken’ nuggets and ‘mixed grill’ was some of the most realistic, flavourful plant based food that we have ever tried. Don’t get me started on desserts 🤩

A bit disappointed - Edit
I was happy to find a plant based restaurant so I really wanted to love it! But unfortunately it wasn’t the best food, it was okay… The cheese on the moussaka was plasticky and the consistency wasn’t the best. Although I loved supporting it because of the lack of vegan options in the rest of the town.

Not great - Edit
Good location and very friendly service. Big selection of starters, salads and mains. Food arrived very quickly. Flavours were ok, but meat substitutes lacked in consistency. Salad portion tiny. “Fries” are undercooked potato wedges. Tzatziki for 7€ came with 5 olives of which two were rotten which unfortunately meant we lost out appetite for dessert. It is a shame because the dessert menu and cocktails looked amazing.

Mixed? - Edit
On the internet I read a lot of mixed signals about this place. Some even saying that they prepare meat in the same kitchen.

Delicious vegan food! - Edit
I think it was quite clear that the food was vegan but not the cakes or the ice cream. Maybe they shouldn’t advertise the place as plant based then, but everything on the menu was vegan, we even double checked. They even had 3 vegan cakes. The food was really good and the personal very friendly, but maybe a bit stressed as it got busy.
