Only decent vegan options in Amsterdam Schipol - Edit

Leon seems to be the only restaurant in Amsterdam Schipol airport to offer clear vegan options. It has one hot dish (rice, vegetables, curry) and one sandwich, and the fries. The food is good but there are few vegan choices. You are served quickly and you can bring your food easily if you need to go to your gate. I took the curry and it was good. Portions are fair, as well as prices.

Pros: vegan options clearly indicated, good food, fast

Cons: few vegan choices

Don't seem to understand "vegan" - Edit

Unfortunately, my experience at Leon was quite different from previous reviewers. Based on those I had hoped to get some vegan breakfast at Schiphol Airport. Nothing was marked as vegan. I ordered porridge with almond milk. I was told they had no almond milk today, only cow's milk (a few minutes later I saw that they had boxes of soy milk next to the coffee machine though). I asked if there is anything else that's vegan and was offered a bean pot with vegetables and egg. I told the waitress that eggs are not vegan and asked if the rest was and they could just make it without the egg. She asked the kitchen and came back saying that the rest was vegan. I ordered toast with that and specified that I'd like to have it without butter. What I got was a pot of beans with cheese (which I only realized when I actually bit into the cheese) and buttered toast (which I returned to get toast without butter as ordered). The whole experience was quite annoying and next time I'm at Schiphol in the morning I'll definitely bring my own breakfast again.

Lovely banana porridge and falafels - Edit

The food is nice and they have sockets for charging phones/laptops. I go there every time I travel via Schiphol and I always advise them to everyone who asks. I had really friendly service every time.

They have lattes/cappuccinos only available with animal milk, but it is possible to order filter coffee/americano and add almond milk yourself.

They seem to think that honey is vegan.

Pros: both breakfast and lunch options at the same place, everything else in schiphol is worse

Cons: latte and cappuccino not available vegan

A fast food gem - Edit

I really enjoyed my meal at Leon! So, that I visited it twice on my returning flight. The restaurant is a fast food oriented venue, but the food easily can compete with slow food restaurants' one. Not every food is vegan, but the vegan options (quinoa salad and cauliflower curry) are clearly labelled. Also, talk to the staff, they can offer you to adapt some dishes (eg. falafel) by removing dressings. Don't miss the vegan chocolate shortbread too.

For me, it will be a must for every time I go to Schiphol.

The only negative of this place is its location - main hall. If you have a bounding flight, you have to leave the boarding zone.

Pros: really tasty vegan food, well informed staff, decoration

Cons: located outside boarding area

Happy to have found vegan options at Schiphol! - Edit

I had a children's falafel box with brown rice, green peas, broccoli and sweet potato falafels. Having nothing else, it was really nice to eat, although the peas and broccoli were hard and not tasty. However, I enjoyed my meal and would go there again, I appreciate the options (more items would be possible to make vegan by removing dressings or sauces I think) and the clear labels. Happy to finally find something like this at Schiphol!

Pros: Only place I know of at Schiphol having a labeled , Healthy looking options

Best Vegan Option in Schiphol - Edit

I work in Schiphol and go here regularly! I love the falafel wrap (vegan with chili sauce instead of aioli) and they have a couple of nice breakfast options. Ask for help with what's vegan, staff are very good at helping with dietary requirements.
Great coffee too!

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly staff, Nice coffee

Cons: Bit too expensive

StephenEamonn 20 Jul 2017 - Also a 2nd branch of Leon open after security at the Food Hall in Lounge 1! Heard they will also open in Utrecht Centraal train station and are planning other locations around NL! Sadly, newer staff seem less trained in veggie options and the almond milk has disappeared.
