Redelijk goed

We hebben er een pasta gegeten. De saus was niet slecht maar de kinderporties waren echt heel klein voor een dure prijs. Ik heb al veel betere vegan restaurants gehad.

Pros: Goede spaghettisaus, Vriendelijke bediening

Pros: Heel vriendelijk personeel, Groot terras, Betaald per gewicht

Love it

Fill your plate and pay by weight.
Variated choice. Fresh and tasty.
Friendly personel.
Even my 88 year old grandma likes to go there!
Normally toilet is upstairs, but she could go downstairs, very much appreciated this friendly gesture.

Lekker gezond

Cons: Geen

Nice concept, good food, work in process

Lekker GEC offers a very small ‘a la carte’ menu with pasta and fries. Except for the cheese, all is vegan. Next to the menu, there is a buffet you can choose from and you will pay per gram.

The place is a display of some kind of social economy.

As the place is recently Renovated, a learning process takes place when it comes to service. It can take a while to pay or to be able to order just a drink. But the atmosphere and culture of the place makes it all up.

Nice to eat, great to enjoy.

Pros: Almost all vegan offer, Nice to experiment with different kinds of food, Amazing taste of food!

Cons: Not that cheap, It can take a while if you only order drinks, At the bar only service

Decent

Located next to Oxfam, this is one of those places that serves fair trade beverages and coffee, which is nice. The food is within Belgian average, meaning that half will be good, a quarter almost good weren't it for the odd flavor that's in your mouth in the end and the other quarter bad. Prices are also within the average.

Pros: Nice outdoors tables

Vegan buffet restaurant paid by weight

After 18:00 they offer a warm vegan buffet and you pay by weight. Before they have salads and soup (at least it was like that todau) Since recently also offers breakfast. Food is delicious and it is nice that you can look in the kitchen. Friendly staff. Sometimes crowded reservation for groups recommend.

Pros: Only pay as much as you want to eat

Cons: Can be expensive if you load your plate too much;)

Perfect vegan buffet for on the go

When you are transferring in Gent-St-Pieters, this is your best option for a quick delicious vegan meal!

I have been going to Lekker gec for years and literlly saw it transform but the delicious buffet and heart in the right place stayed the same.
They just reopened after a major makeover, this time. The kitchen is now really open which gives it a nice feel. They are still working on the finishing decorative touches but I am sure they will turn it into something beautiful
Eventhough I must admit that I preferred the recycles decorations with washing basket tables and wine bottle lamps back in the day.

The food was delicious, as always and even manages to surprise me such as a belgian andive tempura I had this time.

The staff was really friendly and welcoming but take into acvount that this social restaurants does it best to also employ people that normally don't get a job easily, such as refugees. So you might not be able to communicate with everyone in Dutch. Also, it is not uncommon to share your table with other visitors. Try to be a social customer in this social restaurant ;)

Pros: You pay forward a coffee or a meal, for someone in need, You can pay by weight according to your apetite

Decent

Lekker Gec is just outside the most touristy part of Ghent. Everything can be made vegan, though they will add cheese or other dairy if you ask. I only tried two items, and they were both alright.

Pros: Large portion sizes

Cons: Small menu selection

Meh

This buffet was much too expensive for the quality of the food. It was greasy and rich and basically veganized Belgian food which leaves you feeling a bit icky afterward. We did however have an amazing burger.

Cons: Very Expensive, Low Quality

Must visit for tasty food!

Really glad we came here for our last night. There was something for everyone. The kids were happy with chips and pasta while we chose from the buffet which had both cold salads and hot food to choose from. We had quinoa with a squash curry and bean croquettes, beetroot and greens and grilled endive. There is a great selection of drinks too from beer to wine, kombucha to milkshakes. We also tried the brownie which got the thumbs up from all. Definitely worth a visit.

I was really impressed with the food and the service here.

A wide selection of delicious food to satisfy any size of hunger! Despite being in a buffet, the food tastes fresh and is of a high quality. I brought my dog with me, and she was warmly welcomed, as was I. Highly recommended if you are in Ghent. Prices are standard for Belgium.

Pros: Large selection, Food is delicious, Friendly staff

Cons: Prices, but they are no higher than other places

Lekker - new location!

I hear from a friend residing in Gent, that this restaurant relocated here from the station square. having expanded to take over the ground floor a beautiful old building in the centre of Gent.

The food has mostly remained what it was: a vegan pay-by-weight buffet, with stews, hot mix veggies, various spreads, a cold salad bar. The food is rather genuine: there are homemade croquettes rather than veggie wursts or pre-made burgers. Same for the dessert: I had a grapefruit pannacotta, which was nicely presented with edible flowers. So everything seems low in processed ingredients, which is definitely a good thing. However, while the food is tasty, it is also not quite as put together and exciting as other places in town. It remains ideal for a casual, unpretentious meal, though, and I find the experience is heightened by the new surroundings.

The space Lekker now occupies spans three rooms: the first, where the buffet also is, has nice wooden panelling and period feature. The second room is almost grandiose, with a wonderful staircase and some niches and moulding on the walls. And there there is the outdoor patio, with simple but visually effective wooden furniture (although some extra umbrella to make some shade would be good). The indoor furniture could do with an update, which would elevate the whole place to a more refined vibe. At the moment, it feels like church hall furniture, but with more attention to details and some new chairs and tables, this place could really shine and exude some old-time grandeur (it would be good to celebrate veganism that way, rather than go for the almost by default demure appearance). Still good for now though! I would visit again, without a doubt.

Pros: Wonderful new location, Beautiful interior space, The patio is great in a sunny day

Cons: Indoor dining furniture could be updated, Food is tasty but not terribly exciting or new, Pay-by-weight always end up very pricey for me!

healthy vegan food

Nice place - the building is lovely, self service and pay by weight. On Saturday there was a piano player too. The food itself is ok - nothing special - soup was good, lots of potatoes, basic veg and rice etc. Open late as for Ghent!

Not impressed

I'm not really impressed by Lekker Gec.
When we walked in it didn't look very cozy or comfortable. It looked like a fast food chain, because of people walking around with trays.

There were very limited options to choose from.

One plus is that the chef had an awesome beard!

Pros: The chef had an awesome beard

Cons: Limited options, No cozy place to sit, Uncomfortable and cheap atmosphere

"Lekker" means "yummy" in Dutch

Arriving here to see the day's (or evening's) soup and other hot dishes arranged on the buffet, alongside the salad bar with its raw vegetables and spreads, is always a pleasure. In the unlikely event that nothing appeals to you, order whole-wheat pasta with pesto or Bolognese sauce in one of three sizes, or a simple plate of French fries, fresh out of the oil. Coffee, tea, and sweets, such as yogurt topped with fruit, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, and a choice of cakes, are served even when the buffet is not available.

Pros: Different dishes every time

Lovely vegetable-based buffet

We really enjoyed the buffet at Lekker Gec. There were six or seven hot dishes to choose from, all of them centred on vegetables rather than meat replacements, which I loved. There was also soup and salad, though we didn't explore those options. You can order chips separately, and I wish we had done so - they looked amazing!

Service was friendly, and we also had some delicious hot chocolate and cake. It was pretty busy at dinner time, so it might be worth booking.

good but not the best in Ghent

the place is run by volunteers, so service can be a bit slow

food is vegan but rather blend and not very original

it is located right opposite the train station

Pros: location
