A shame - Edit
Had a review planned but kinda late now. Was gonna write that the product, the actual pastries, were divine. Amazing. Best vegan pastries in the city. It what was lacking, and what made me think this place wasn’t long for this world, which in hindsight was absolutely correct, was no sense for business and marketing and getting the product and experience out there. Unfortunately, as we’ve seen a lot of vegan closures in Toronto recently, superficial “experience” and aesthetic is as, if not more, important than what’s on the plate. It has to be because rents here are untenable and being vegan already cuts out a chunk of the market. I wish that wasn’t the case and people were more open minded, but this is Canada and it’s not the case.

Pros: Pastries, Pastries, Pastries
Cons: The space, The inconsistency of hours, The business

Disappointing and closed during random hours - Edit
Disappointing. Twice I've tried to go here and both times they were closed during what it supposed to be their open hours (Wed at 11:15 and a Friday at 12:30). It's an hour on the TTC each way so I won't be trying again. Have a back-up plan if you're planning to go here since they might not be open as expected.

Heavenly can’t-believe-it’s-vegan patisserie - Edit
This place could go head to head with any non-vegan patisserie. Macarons, Mille-feuille, pan au chocolat, tarts, and eclairs. The owner/founder/baker’s caramel and choux are sublime. I had three different macarons and chocolate tart with pastry cream and caramel. I meant to pace myself but it proved impossible. Such a treat

Vegan French Bakery!! - Edit
This is not a mass produced kind of bakery. You aren't going to find a boring chocolate chip cookie for $3. What you will find is creative, fancy pastries that are tasty to eat and beautiful for the eyes.
Read moreIn case you weren't aware, choux pastry is what traditional elcairs are made of and until fairly recently vegan bakers wouldn't even go there because of all the egg and time it takes to make choux pastry. Le Végétalien has proved not only are they not afraid, they deliver unique touches to the flavours of the eclairs themselves. Not just chocolate here! I had a pineapple one that was so delicious!
Each time you enter you will find interesting, artistic creations that you've never seen before.
Pros: Creative, Delicious, Variations
