My first experience with vegan Moroccan food was at Le Touareg, in Colmar. Visiting from California, Everything from the warm mint tea, to the lentil and vegetable soups to the entrees, couscous and Tagine with peas, stewed tomatoes, olives and warm Morraccan flavors were so comforting while traveling. My husband and I returned the next evening and ordered the same thing again. Don’t forget desert!! It was special also. One of my favorite restaurants in France and I now hope to also visit Morocco someday. We met the owner and talented Chef who was very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place❤️❤️

tasty Tajine - Edit
We really enjoyed the Tajine! We arrived quite late for lunch and were served in a very friendly and pleasant manner. The vegan options are clearly marked and the tagine was delicious. We'd happily return.

not good despite vegan options - Edit
We chose this restaurant specifically for their vegan options and were looking forward to an authentic Moroccan meal. On the plus side, they had seats for our big group which included us (vegan), one vegetarian and multiple omnivores. Us vegans had the vegan Tajine and the vegan Pastilla. Both had the same vegetables and even though they tasted reasonably nice, I'd have hoped to have some more special flavours in them like the meat dishes had according to the menu, like e.g. the typical pickled lemon. Or that each dish had more distinct vegetables. Or that each vegan dish had some proteins, neither of which was true.

However, there were so many things which made our visit not enjoyable:
When we poured wine from the carafe, a living spider ran out of it! We had never experience something like that before. Probably the wine had just been poured into the carafe and thus it was still alive. We didn't want to ruin the mood and did not complain right away, only when with less wine in it, we could see that there were also spider webs in the carafe. When we asked for a new one, he at first loudly did not believe us and had to be shown. In the end, we did not manage to finish the wine anyway because it really did not taste good, either.
Also, when the waiter talked to my little niece towards the end of our meal, he ruffled her hair, i.e. touched her. It happened so fast I had no opportunity to stop it. She did not look comfortable with it. I think it's not OK for adults to touch children without their consent (of course unless necessary, e.g. for medical reasons) so this really tipped the visit from still OKish to bad for me.
The meal also cost the same as other restaurants in town, even though it felt much more casual than other restaurants, and despite all of the listed problems.
Pros: pretty decor, multiple clearly labelled vegan options
Cons: lack of hygiene (spider in carafe), inconsiderate waiter, bad value

Read moreMy family and I found this restaurant and we're all ready for a treat. I'm half Moroccan and I was so happy that they had vegan options. We chose the pastilla, the tajine and the couscous. Next to this we also had the popular Moroccan Whiskey ... hahaha ... nana tea (mint tea).
It tasted delicious!
We've also had nice conversations with the waiter. It's a family restaurant. The son and daughter are the waiters, the mother is cooking and the father is making sure everything is in place.
We sat outside, but the inside is beautifully painted and a lot bigger than we initially thought. Prices are a bit on the expensive side, but you should not forget that you are in a very tourist place and in the centre of it.
So glad that we ate here and would recommend it to everyone! Because Moroccan food = good ^_^

Nous avons apprécié la carte végane claire, 5 plats et 2 desserts véganes sont proposés. La serveuse était d’une attention et d’une gentillesse admirable, l’ambiance est un peu plus intime que d’autres restaurants proches étant donné la taille réduite de la terrasse. De nombreuses terrasses étaient complètes ce jour là mais il restait plusieurs places ici, une erreur car les plats sont délicieux ☺️.

From vegan menu they offer 2 soups, 3 mains and 2 desserts. I had a chickpea soup which was delicious and vegan crepes that were a bit plain. It is expensive though - soups 10,5 €, mains 17,5 € and desserts 7 €.

Siamo stati il 26 dicembre io e la mia ragazza ed è stata la nostra salvezza perché tutti chiusi o senza opzioni vegane.. appena entrati siamo stati accolti da un ragazzo molto gentile che parlava perfettamente anche in inglese, il locale è carino e il cibo è ok, ci siamo presi una zuppa con vari legumi abbastanza buona, prezzi un po alti (al pari della media locale comunque..)

Nice Moroccan food with vegan alternatives! - Edit
This Moroccan restaurant offers vegan options clearly marked on the menu such as couscous, pastilla and Moroccan pastries. The terrace is nice as well as the staff. The food is good and we don't regret sitting down. Even if the restaurant is not vegetarian, it is worth the detour and it is open all the time.

We arrived late, looking for a decent meal instead of the rather awful tartes flambées everywhere in Colmar. The vegan tajine is one of the best I've had. Not special in the sense of what is in the tajine, but the taste makes you scrape the very last bits from it😉Served with Maroccan bread.

ça passe encore si on avait trouvé qu’une seule espèce animale dans notre coucous « Vegan » mais là pour le coup ça ne marche pas! Surtout que c’était des gros morceaux de viande. Des excuses n’auraient pas été de trop!
Testez plutôt l’arpège ou cuit lu cru sur colmar, vous serez pas déçus!
