Very Good! - Edit
It is a cosy place and the food is very good. I tried the seitan beef Bourguignon and the chilli sans carne - they come with your choice of carb - potato/brwon rice/quinoa. The vibe reminds that of a French Bistro, only the menue is vegan. The staff is quite nice. Closed between 3pm-6pm, mind you. Not cheap at all.

Visit with a friend - Edit
I had the French onion soup and pate as I wanted to try some traditional cuisine.
Read moreMy friend said the French soup tasted traditional - I wasn’t a massive fan as it was vinigary.
The pate seemed to lack flavour - the tinned one I buy tasted better.
However the cream brûlée was beautiful and light.

Lovely food. High quality ingredients. - Edit
We had garden salad and potato to start followed by seitan bourginion and fried vegetables with smoked tofu. Vegetables were excellent quality. Pesto was beautiful. Smoked tofu was fantastic. I loved the seitan with gratin.

Awesome french cuisine - Edit
We really wanted to try some traditional french food during our Paris trip, so we were very happy to have found Le Potager du Marais.
Read moreEverything is vegan. We had the French Onion Soup (my husbands favorite, but could have been a bit spicier for me), the Seitan Stew with red wine and mushrooms (very good), the fried vegetable with smoked tofu (pretty good) and the Creme Brulee (pretty good). The staff was very nice as well.

Best meal we had in paris - Edit
This place is so cute. What a gem. We shared the French onion soup and what ever “cheese” they put on top was amazing. I got the crepe and it had a side salad that I loved, Ian’s the crepe was delicious. My husband got the Saipan and he loved it. I got the creame Brulle for dessert and I haven’t had that in years because it’s not vegan usually and I was so happy to have this after so many years. The food felt clean and healthy, and I can’t say enough about the owner. He was so passionate about his food and what he was providing to have French food available to everyone.

Mediocre food, good service - Edit
Everyone says this is a must try vegan restaurant in Paris, but it was one of my least favorites. The onion soup was very salty and the gluten free bread in it was mushy. The gluten free galette entree was bland. The crème brûlée was delicious, and the service was excellent. Too bad the food was mediocre.

Traditional French dishes - Edit
We had the Bourguignon and the Seitan roast with pepper sauce. Both was good and something special that you can't get everywhere and which requires effort to prepare. If it wouldn't have been for the Creme Brulee that was burnt too much in some places and otherwise also didn't taste like Creme Brulee we would have given 5 stars.

Fantastic food and great place to try all good examples of french cuisine fully veganised. The french onion soup especially was excellent, and the staff were all lovely and friendly. A bit costly but worth it

Could be better - Edit
This is my first visit to Le Potager since it moved from its small but cheerful place near the Pompidou Centre. The venue is certainly better, more spacious and more like a restaurant. As others have said, the idea is to provide vegan versions of a few classics from French cookery.
Read moreWe visited on a Thursday evening in early April. The place was around 2/3 full as people left, others arrived so it was fairly busy. Despite that, there was only one member of serving staff. She was ultra efficient but perhaps rather curt. It would not be correct to say that she was unfriendly, but a smile goes a long way and there were none of those. Perhaps she was just too busy.
The food is all vegan - I had the soup of the day, which was fine: tasty if a little grainy, and my wife had a salad. The main courses were disappointing: my blanquette was OK but the potato Dauphinoise was dry and the plate was crying out for something green and fresh but the other vegetables were mashed carrots and parsnips. My wife had seitan en croute but, again, it was dry with the same accompaniments as my dish, so that everything was the same colour and texture. It was not that the food was bad - we ate it all - but there was no joy in the eating. Desserts were OK.
On the plus side, it's a nice place, everything is vegan, there is no piped music. But a restaurant is predominantly for the pleasure of eating rather than simply filling oneself. I think things could be much better with a little more variety on the menu, more thoughtful presentation and a better choice of vegetables.

Pros: All vegan, Pleasant space, Efficient service

Nice food and service - Edit
Had dinner on a Sunday night here. The dishes are quite rustic. I tried the onion soup, mushroom pate, crepes sarassin (buckwheat pancakes) and chocolate cake. Everything was good but not outstanding or exciting. On the plus side the waiters were very friendly and put up with my attempts at French. Reservations are required or you'll have to wait for the later seating.

Low quality cooking - Edit
Nice place and nice service but cantine style food. The cooking is really bad unfortunately. Had the bœuf bourguignon and it was horrendously expensive, no vegetables in the sauce, no acidity, not cooked with red wine. Had nothing to do with the dish. Can’t really recommend.

Le Potager du marais - Edit
Really enjoyed the food here. French dishes with a vegan twist which is rare to find in France. The potato gratin was excellent. Friendly service and quality food. Strange that no music was playing which led to a rather somber atmosphere. Would definitely recommend however.

Interesting french dishes in a vegan version. Pomme de terre rotie and bourguignon de seitan were delicious, not satisfied with the onion soup. Worth to try!

4.5! Had some lovely vegan bourguignon and creme brulee, it was great to be able to eat some French classics. The staff was nice. The only thing is they there’s no soft music or something, so I felt like I had to whisper all the time. But great experience over all.

Valentine's Day Dinner - Edit
We went to Le Potager Du Marais for dinner on Valentine's Day. It was a lovely atmosphere and the waitstaff were very kind. Service was a bit slow but they were incredibly busy so it was understandable. We had soup to start which we loved. Honestly, that soup was filling enough to be dinner. We had the buckwheat crepe which was not the best and the beef bourguignon which was delicious. A lot of the options here are very very fake-meat-centric. It is definitely a good representation of French cuisine vegan-ified. As for allergens, they had an allergen menu at the front of the restaurant and are very attentive to any questions we had.

Lovely home made French food - Edit
It was such a rare treat to be able to eat a vegan take on traditional French fare! The food wasn’t incredible, but nice enough and clearly home cooked, the atmosphere was relaxed and the service was great-in spite of there being only one waiter for the whole restaurant! The onion soup was the best dish we tried; definitely recommend! It was busy, I think we got one of the last tables without a booking, and that was around 7pm on a Wednesday so if you’re keen-make a reservation for sure😄

A favorite spot in Paris - Edit
Year after year, since 2017, the staff of Le Potager rememeber and welcome us back like old friends. We've made so many lovely memories there (at the old location and the new). Their menu includes some excellent gluten-free choices, which I need, and I've never had a reaction from cross contamination. The portions are generous, but you must save room for dessert. The desserts are divine! Reservations are a must.
