Muddled menu - Edit
Looking for a nice place for breakfast we headed to Le Pain.
Read moreThe menu is a muddle of items. There are some vegan options but nothing to get too excited about.
I took the Le Pain breakfast with orange juice and ginger tea.
The ‘breakfast’ was essentially a breadbasket with a croissant.
Pros: Nice service, Lovely hibiscus croissant
Cons: Limited protein options for vegans

Great place for breakfast - Edit
Good selection of vegan breakfast, also great when you go with non-vegans. Especially the sweet pastries, like the croissant or the cinnamon bun are totally worth it! Too bad that plant milk costs extra.

Good for early breakfast - Edit
I have been to serveral "Le Pain Quotidien" also in other countries, because they are usually near tourist sights and have early opening hours - so it's ideal for tourists for an early breakfast before sightseeing.
Read moreI usually enjoy the atmosphere and their baked goods - the vegan chocolate tart is great, or items from the bakery with the dark chocolate spread, which is available on the communal tables (as are delicious jams).
They offer a "vegan brunch" which has a croissant, bread, baguette, a little bit of avocado toast, hummus, granola, a fresh juice and a warm beverage.
This "Le Pain Quotidien" was a bit disappointing: service was a bit slow, the vegan hibiscus croissant didn't really taste fresh and their wasn't much espresso in the cappuccino! Prices are quite high for what you get. The fresh orange juice was great, though, and we really hadn't far to walk to the Dam Square afterwards for our time slot to visit the Royal Palace.
Le Pain Quotidien also offers warm dishes for lunch.

Boring vegan options - Edit
Typically the type of restaurant that has 2-3 vegan options, but doubtful if they're even thought out by a vegan. Very basic and tasteless salad, basic avocado sandwich. It's a place that won't surprise you

Good food - bit pricy - Edit
The avocado toast was really nice and the homemade lemonade was super tatsty, but the service was a bit slow and more than 8 euros for 3 small pieces of bread and avo is a bit too much for me.

Best Vegan hummus toast I ever had - Edit
Really cute cafe in the middle of Amsterdam. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Read moreYou have the option to get coffee with plant milk.
We got the vegan chili and it was okay but too pricey.
The toast with warm hummus was one of the best things I've had as a vegan so far very recommendable.

Nice but pricy - Edit
We went here for breakfast. The vegan options are marked with a little carrot and that's great. Myself and boyfriend both had avocado on toast, 2 coffees and we shared a little pastry twist that had hazelnuts in.
Read moreIt was nice and the cafe it cute. Looks just like a little Parisian Patisserie. However it was very pricy at €22 for the bill. I would only go back if I was hungry and didn't have many other options I'm afraid.

Many options for vegans - Edit
I arrived just as this restaurant was closing so unfortunately I could not try the food, but I did speak to a very friendly staff member who let me look at a menu (I've uploaded a copy), and explained that all items marked with a carrot are vegan and that breakfast is served all day. The restaurant does serve meat but about 70% of the dishes are vegetarian with approximately 40% vegan. This is a chain with at least another two venues within Amsterdam. I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Yum - Edit
I love Le Pain. I've been to them in London, Belgium and now Amsterdam. They never disappoint. They have clearly marked vegan options of a high standard. I had brunch today and opted simply for fruit salad and a basket of all different breads. The jams are amazing. One of the options was a superfood breakfast of granola, fruit, agave, seeds and soy yogurt.

Option is always vegan. Today it was pumpkin. They have a few tartines which are like open sandwiches with white beans, avocado, hummus & tomato. They have a few types of hummus. Also a lovely quinoa salad with lentils, tapenade, veggies and hummus with bread.
Also, they have speculoos biscuits and vegan blueberry muffin. Soy latte was really good.
Pros: Reliable and pleasant to sit in , Good quality food, Reasonably priced
