So many Vegan options!! - Edit

Really liked this place. I don't speak Flemish but that was no problem. The staff are friendly they speak English and have an English menu version.
Vegan dishes (of which there are loads!) Are all marked with a carrot. I had vegan brunch it comes with a fresh orange juice and hot drink. Great value! I will be back for cake soon 😀

Pros: lots of vegan options , staff are lovely , Vegan cake .....

Expensive for little food - Edit

I used to love this LPQ, because it's a cozy place and the staff is very friendly. However, over the years, the portions of the vegan salad keep decreasing, which makes it quite expensive for a small salad (I used to give my left-overs to my husband because I couldn't finish it and now I'm still hungry afterwards).
There aren't a lot of vegan options, but I used to not mind because the sandwich, salad and hot-pot were delicious and filling. Now I'm not that sure about it anymore.
The staff should be better informed about what vegan means, because often we had to ask if a dressing or spread was vegan after we received it, after specifying we wanted everything vegan.
I still like the style and food of LPQ, but I think there are equally delicious options in Hasselt for a better price.

Pros: Delicious food, Cozy

Cons: Expensive, Small portions

Brunch, with butter (again!) and very long wait - Edit

Drinks came swiftly, but after 45 minutes no sign of our lunch. Which they had forgotten, we got free drinks as an apology.
The food was okish, but not that culinairy exciting. And again (as has happened on every visit to any LPQ), came with cow butter (despite having asked everything vegan). By now LPQ surely should have vegan breadspread?

No much vegan desserts. Normally there are 2 vegan muffins, but now there was just the apple muffin.

This is from a visit in 2016. More in detail on my blog:

Pros: vegan options labelled

Cons: long wait (they did apologise), cow butter (again and again and again), few vegan dessert options

I love sourdough, nice sauces and salads - Edit

I really like the concept of le pain quotidien. We had a salad with some cheese and a sauce based on olives. There are vegan options available. It was quite expensive though, and not quite a lot. You can get extra slices of the delicious sourdough bread on request (for free). I'd definatly go there again but I'd watch the price this time. Friendly staff.

Pros: sourdough bread!, lovely tapenades

Cons: pricey, small portion

A quick (vegan) bite - Edit

When going shopping in Hasselt, you used to wonder where you could get something to eat (as a vegan).

Well, now there is a Le Pain Quotidien-restaurant; and it's conveniently located near the main shopping street.

There are not that many vegan options: some of the soups, a dish with quinoa a lots of grilled veggies, some sandwiches. But this is the best and easiest thing around when going on a shopping spree in Hasselt.

Pros: Open almost all day, every day, Friendly staff

Cons: Not that many vegan options
