Fun experience, mediocre food - Edit
We loved sitting outside here, watching people go by. Unfortunately our meals (couscous, dauphinoise) were underseasoned and generally forgettable.

Reserved a table for Friday night, our last night in Paris. Not had much joy with our choice of eateries earlier in the week so we weren’t expecting great things given some of the previous reviews here but hey, what a find. Friendly welcome and a great setting. Seating was a bit cramped. Food was very tasty.

Update: revisited March 2026 - similar vegan menu choices as before but veggies beware, two items with cheese were flagged as containing animal rennet! Thought that was a strange offering for a veggie/vegan restaurant.

Great little restaurant near Notre Dame - Edit
I went there with friends and the place was really nice. It is quite small so I would advise you to book in advance.

Their seitan was really a treat. The vegan desserts, even though quite simple, were a delight (we had chocolate cake).
It's a bit pricey but located where it is, you can't really expect it to be cheap and it's in the average price of the area and you'll get a very good meal !

We’ve been coming to Le Grenier de Notre Dame for years every time we visit Paris. We haven’t been here for several years though, but we’re happy that it is still here and better than ever! Lots of testy and interesting vegan options (including desserts). Staff is great and it’s in a convenient spot once you figure out where it is! We may have to go back again on this trip!!

Food was fresh, delicious and unique. Wonderful coconut, plantain and cassava soup; a "burger" lentil vegetarian patty and "blue cheese" and a wonderful salad with a horseradish dressing, shredded cabbage, lettuce, raisins, olives, tomatoes, carrots, sunflower seeds.

Apparently, this is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in France, in activity since 1978! It's in an incredibly (and unexpectedly) quiet street literally 100 meters from Notre Dame, and it's a very nice restaurant. I had lunch with my family there and we had the basmati rice with veggies (average), the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes veggies tofu with sauce (spicy!), and the two vegan desserts (I would certainly recommend the brownie with ice cream - you can choose the flavour). I appreciate the possibility to get traditional/naturally vegan dishes here, rather than fake meat or other vegan dishes that you can find in several vegan restaurants nowadays. We also ordered some baked potatoes for my kid and they were reeeeeeeally good!

This place was exceptional. The dishes were full of flavor and clearly prepared with love. We ordered the L'assiette berbère and the Le Mafé avec beurre de cacahuète. The sauce from the Le Mafé was exceptional.

Gemütliches Restaurant in Paris mit hervorragendem Essen - Edit
Das Essen war super. Ich hatte einen veganen Kartoffelgratin welcher einfach großartig geschmeckt hat. Besonders gefallen an dem Restaurant hat mir die Lage. Das Restaurant befindet sich in einer ruhigen Nebenstraße und ist sehr gemütlich.

Great to find a restaurant in Paris serving vegetarian and vegan food. I had the veggie burger which was vegan. Then after the chocolate brownie and sorbet. Both were very delicious. Would definitely go there again.

Read moreNous avons prix le faux gras et la tartare d'avocat comme entrée. Le faux gras manquait de quelque choses: c'était juste une purée de lentille mais il manque d'épaisseur dans le goût, et la tartare d'avocat et mangue avait des morceaux de mangue pas trop mur qui n'était pas plaisantes au goût.
En plat nous avons eu l'assiette de seitan, tofu etc et le gratin de pomme de terre. Dans l'assiette mixte il y avait des goûts intéressants, qui est bien si on veut essayer un peu de tout mais il n'y a pas un lien forte entre les parties. Le gratin était plutôt bon, les saveurs se sont bien mélanges.
Globalement un bon repas, mais nous attendions mieux. Il n'y a pas une bonne correspondance entre les prix et l'offre effective

We hadden de schnitzel van seitan met groenten en aardappeltjes, en een aardappel gratin van zoete en normale aardappelen. Na nog geen 5 minuten van het bestellen kwam het eten er al aan…. Dit kan dus niet vers zijn geweest. Het eten was nogal smaakloos en de groenten waren te zacht gekookt. Nadat we uitgegeten waren, hoefde we geen dessert. Nog geen minuut nadat we onze drankjes ophadden kwam de serveerster met de rekening, zonder dat we daar om hadden gevraagd.

We kregen dit restaurant getipt van onze gids maar wij raden het niet aan. Nadat we besteld hadden stond binnen 5 minuten het eten al op tafel. Vonden wij best apart. Niet alles was warm, eerder lauw. Wij hadden de aardappel gratin en de schnitzel van seitan maar aan beide zat weinig smaak. Zelf koken wij lekkerder.

Multiple clearly labeled vegan options on an all-vegetarian menu. Cute atmosphere and kind servers. The potato & sweet potato au gratin was incredible. Lentil burger was good, but the potatoes that came with it were amazing. There are 2 vegan dessert options in addition to several vegan sorbets. I tried the brownie with a cocoa sorbet - it was warm and melted and so rich; can’t recommend enough!

The app said the restaurant was open at 14:30. However, although it looked open, we were greeted with a surly 'fermèe' and sent on our way. Either Happy Cow has got this wrong or the restaurant is misinforming HC.
