Best Vegan Cheese, period

Do yourself a favor and go try this place. Very friendly staff and the food is amazing!! We showed up late in the evening, after the kitchen had closed, but they accommodated us with a selection of spreads (hummus, black bean and truffle, and navy beans with mint. All three of them blew us away.

Oliver, the owner came over and sat with us shortly after we finished our meal and chatted with us about where we were from, being vegan, etc., and then insisted on bringing out some cheese for us to sample. They were hands down, the best vegan cheeses I've ever had. Not the, "this is good for vegan cheese" type of cheese, these are the "holy crap this is amazing cheese" type of cheese.

The looks on our faces after eating the cheeses must have said it all! Oliver leaned in and said, "Now we can free the cows!"

Definitely making this place a regular spot on my next Paris visit!

Charming place with the most delicious vegan cheeses (homemade)

This charming place is a place to be not just for its tasty meals but lovely people as well. Try the vegan cheese selection which is the best vegan cheese I ever had. The meals are of decent size and affordable prize. The lasagna is not to be miss out on!

Fromages à couper le souffle !

Nous sommes venus au Faitout un dimanche soir, Olivier le chef est très sympa mais surtout, les fromages sont délicieux ! Type camembert, fromage de brebis, mozzarella... c’est à s’y méprendre !
Tout est fait maison (et avec amour, ça se sent !), ils disposent d’une chambre d’affinage pour faire leur super fromages😄

Best place in Paris

This was really the best place for vegan food in Paris. We went there for breakfast and were really surprised how goog everything was! Especially the cheese platter tasted so so delicious, I never had anything like this! YOU MUST TRY IT OUT!

J'ai bien aimé ce [censored] dans lequel on trouve des planches de charcuterie et fromage vegan ce qui est super pour un apéritif. Les plats sont délicieux et l'accueil est très bien également.

Disappointing despite great food

This restaurant was my favorite one before the waitress has become unpolite/uncomfortable.

A pity because food is excellent (vegan meats and cheese, traditionnal French dishes, desserts...).

The owner is a always-joking man and food lover.

Nous sommes allé.e.s au Faitout pour y déjeuner et nous avons été très agréablement surpris.e.s ! La nourriture est savoureuse, nous avons pris l'assiette de tapas chauds et tout était très bon. On a aussi goûté l'assiette de vromages : un délice ! Tout est fait maison et les goûts sont incroyables. Pour couronner le tout, le propriétaire est très sympa. Le resto propose 3 plats du jour et 2 desserts des tapas à la carte et une assiette de fromage. Resto un peu onéreux mais très belle découverte.

Went to this place for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The food is delicious, I took the hot tapas mix and everything was very tasty. I also ordered the cheese plate and it was amazing. Everything is homemade so this is definitely a plus. And the owner is very friendly and eager to help you. The restaurant has 3 daily main meals 2 daily desserts (very good) and a menu with various tapas, hot & cold. The meals are a bit pricy but totally worths it. Will come back!

Good cheese plate

Went there in August, and tried the cheese plate and the cold tapas plate, and I have to admit it was very good (overall).
Some cheeses were better than other (obviously) and really surprising, as for some of the tapas, but it lacked some explanation about the cheeses & tapas (their names, ingredients, etc.). It was obvious the waitress didn't have time for this given the number of people in the restaurant, but for such a pricey restaurant I'd have hope for more attention from the staff. So, for the moment I'll only give 4 stars.

Favorite Vegan French Bistrot

Vegan Cheese and Charcuterie plates are amazing. The owner is a food scientist who loves to experiment and he creates surprising tasty dishes. Love it. Highly recommend.

Stops serving food at 11pm!

Didn’t actually eat here because we got here at 1am (as it says online that they’re serve food to 130am) but they stop serving at around 11pm :( wanted to leave a review so others don’t do the same!

Cheese Plate!!!

Ok, the cheese plate was amazing. 10 different cheese things plus delicious bread. The cheese plate mimics fancy cheeses to an exceptional degree. If you come for nothing else just come for this.

I took a star away because our rhubarb pie was not good and neither was the chocolate toffee dessert. I mean really, really not good. Rhubarb pie was a green glob with 4 strawberries and salty, not sweet. The chocolate dessert had a weird white sauce and nuts. The chocolate was also too salty.

Also we got the steak and potatoes. Loved it. Big portions. Oily but was still good. Came with boiled carrots, ice berg lettuce salad, a pesto dipping sauce and some stewed leeks and onion. The "steak" was different and good. Like a meatloaf. My partner loved it the most.

Service was great. You had to get server to table yourself sometimes but we had no problem. Food came out fast! Which was good.

Decor is great. Looks like a french bar/cafe. Perfect for dinner. Probably gets non-vegans coming in a lot.

It's expensive but we already knew because of happy cow's $ rating system.

Ambiance sud ouest de la France et bonnes tapas

On se sent tout de suite comme chez soi au Faitout. Olivier le patron nous accueille avec un grand sourire en nous expliquant la carte et il n'est jamais avare d'une bonne blague !
C'est le seul lieu à proposer des tapas vegan de qualité à Paris. Ils ont plusieurs assiettes, avec des similis-carnés (croquettes de tofu, seitan, pois chiches) et des fromages végétaux faits maison et excellents.
Un incontournable dans le 20ème arrondissement où il n'y a pas (encore) beaucoup d'adresses 100% vegan.

Tombée par hasard (à proximité) sur cet endroit où je voulais aller depuis longtemps ... et absolument pas déçue ! ^^ super buffet 100% vegan, et fait maison (même le fauxmage et le beurre ! 😻) et patron ultra détendu, le top ! 👌 Ravie !

On apris l'assiette chaide mixte, c'est que des fritures, tres seches et tres grasses.

Petit paradis parisien végane

Je suis venue de nombreuses fois au Faitout, et c'est toujours avec le plus grand des bonheurs que j'y retourne! Le patron et l'équipe sont incroyables, à l'écoute, détendus et pour autant super pro. On y mange si bien... Les tapas à la française, tout fait maison dans une ambiance chaleureuse et délicieuse, on y reste pour bavarder, picorer et s'abreuver. Mention spéciale pour les rillettes, quel plaisir en bouche ! Aussi bien l'assiette de tapas chaude que froide est un délice. Une très belle adresse qui est devenue mon QG après des journées fatigantes où l'on a besoin de se poser, de se reposer, dans un cadre convivial et bien arrosé. Un lieu unique!

Recommandé !!

Carte 100% végane, ambiance chaleureuse et la nourriture est délicieuse ! Je recommande fortement ! Très belle découverte pour nous (2 véganes et 1 non-végane). Le jeudi soir il y a un groupe de jazz, très sympa même si le volume est très fort.

Great casual bar/bistro

Great casual bar/bistro with a lovely selection of small dishes (to be ordered tapas-style) as well as some larger dishes. The "rillette" (pate-like, made with artichoke heart) was divine. Various other plates varied from average to v good (the "patatas bravas" was basically just chips; while an oven-baked tomato dish was fab). The people running the place were friendly and unstuffy. If you want something "formal" then try somewhere else ;)

Endroit très sympa

Bar/resto très agreable et personnel très sympathique. Le large choix de tapas pour un prix très abordable est appréciable. Les plats sont savoureux et les portions généreuses. Super pour un moment convivial en famille ou entre amis.

Excellent Vegan Food

I have been to Le Faitout many times already.
The food is always excellent, and the ambience is also very relaxed.
Besides the regular tapas menu, the daily plates are generally different from other vegan eatieries in the city.
For instance, at the moment they have a Choucroute (traditional plate from Alsace) and a Parmentier.
One of my favorite spots for dining in Paris.
I cannot recommend it more!

PS: Not sure if they still have the brunch on the weekends.

Visited in December 2016 for brunch on the weekend.

The brunch includes 1 hot drink and 1 fresh juice, 1 cheese platter, 1 main plate and 1 dessert plate. Everything was very good and the food had kind of a home cooked feeling. I especially enjoyed the creative home-made cheeses with very interesting flavors.
All for €22, which was a fantastic deal.

The service was nice, and the atmosphere very pleasant.
Le Faitout is not evidently vegan, it might be a good place to bring your non-vegan friends.

In summary, it's certainly worth visiting.
Moreover, if weather allows it, you can enjoy a stroll at the nearby Buttes-Chaumont park.

Favorite Paris & late night spot

Living close by, I crave coming in for late dinner after a busy day. The menu is changing often, I love their tapas (seaweed, patatas, incredible pâté imitations..., and their mains are most often to die for! I love the way they handle the vegetables, slow cooked or roasted. The atmosphere is casual, very friendly and often funny. Feeling lucky being almost their neighbor.

C'est à tomber!

Accueil sympa, une carte conviviale, la cuisine savoureuse... J'ai hâte d'y retourner!

This was a favorite of ours on a recent trip to Paris. On our first visit I think we were greeted by an owner (a kind mustachioed gentleman) who offered to explain the menu and that it's vegan - no need, I came for the charcuterie and fromage plate!

I loved that the food is made in-house and the place had a great vibe. As a couple, for us this was a cozy and kind of romantic spot for a late dinner, but we also saw groups of friends gathering for drinks and dessert.

In addition to the charcuterie and fromage plate, we also had the "steak" and several desserts. Everything was amazing! My husband is omni and he really loved everything we tried, especially the tarte au citron.

One thing, on both visits (just a few days apart) the credit card machine was broken. The wait staff was super apologetic and the barman was very sweet and entertained me while my husband ran to get cash. Not a big deal, I'm just not in the habit of carrying much cash.

Overall, everything was amazing. The food, the wine, and the service... what a perfect place to close out the night.

Après être allée 3 fois au Faitout je laisse un commantaire

Le Faitout est un endroit où passer et où on passe une bonne soirée.
L'endroit est à la fois calme et vivant. L'accueil est chaleureux et "sur mesure".
La carte est vegan. On peut commander tant des plats individuels que des tapas à partager.
C'est convivial, sans prise de tête tout en étant professionnel. Les prix sont corrects.
