Good food, but not worth the wait! - Edit

I went to Le Bouddha d'Cuisine today on my lunch break from work. I liked the food last time I went and, given the lack of vegan options in the area, didn't have anywhere else to go for a quick vegan bite during work! The lady working there, however, took so long to prepare my food - about half an hour for two simple, AND RAW, meals - to take away that I was late to return to work. Instead, she wiped the counters and chatted away with customers while I stood there waiting for my food! I like the food, and it's great to have a raw vegan place - especially in a mall! - but I can't say I'm likely to go back after my experience today.

Pros: good food, healthy

Cons: slow service, not much seating

A healthy oasis in a sea of fast food - Edit

Attention Montrealers who live/work downtown. You absolutely have to take a moment to go eat at Le Bouddha d'Cuisine. They make phenomenally healthy and tasty food. Everything I've tried has been delightful and truly satisfying. And it's totally affordable too. They have a few tables, but it's set up as lunch box take-out.

I have absolutely no financial stake in this, but I do have a personal stake: I want to support businesses that offer more healthy (and gluten-free) choices for the days I was not able to pack a lunch!

Check them out and support them. You won't regret it. They are located in the passage between PVM & Centre Eaton.

Pros: friendly staff, good value, excellent food

Cons: not many places to sit

Unassumingly awesome. - Edit

With a vague notion that it was on McGill College near Ste-Catherine, I did unfortunately wander around looking for it for a few minutes before double checking their website. They are in the underground! So, inside, downstairs, through the doors, and around the corner and voila, I was there.

Very friendly staff. Decor is functional and there is some sitting room, though not a ton.

Ordered a Taco and some Key Lime Pie to go. Both came in biodegradable takeout containers, which is nice. Taco was really good and hit my craving for real flavourfull food in a way that other Montreal restaurants haven't been able to match yet. Served on the side was a mixed green salad that was unfortunately too small (as the greens were fresh and delicious) as well as a mango salsa and a non-dairy sour cream. Both excellent additions to help round out the flavour of the taco.

The Key Lime Pie, which is mostly made of avocado, was excellent. Nice, creamy texture, no hint of avocado flavouring. A rich green colour and not overly sweet. The serving size was also quite generous.

I definitely see myself going back. This restaurant has definitely deserved the 5 cow rating it has as of this review.

Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff, Good portion sizes

Cons: Hard to find location

Great Food, Great People - Edit

Let me start by saying I am NOT a fan of raw food. It's rare for me to like anything raw but this place was great. It's not completely raw but it seems that the food is served cold. I got the lasagna, my girlfriend got what seemed to be deviled eggs (mine was good, hers was great). Mine was pretty good but again, I'm not a big raw food person so I would have liked it warmed up. It was tasty as was the side salad and dressing. My girlfriend's deviled eggs were amazing. We both LOVED it. The owner was kind enough to engage in discussion and told us how she made the "egg" whites. The chocolate cake was really, really good. All of the materials you use to eat with are biodegradable. It's located in the underground city mall in case you are looking for it based on the address (we were on the street and walked into the building at 1253).

Pros: Great food, Friendly service

A great find - Edit

I found about this place through a friend and went there for lunch. The reviews concerning how items run out around lunch are correct but there was still some great choices. Every dish is made fresh on site and is very good! My hope is that they can expand to offer more items in the future and maybe get more/bigger venues. This is a great place to get a healthy lunch!!

Pros: friendly staff, fresh, organic

Excellent macrobiotique, raw food place - Edit

This small cafe is tucked into the underground at McGill Ave. It is only open from 9am to 5pm, and has limited choices each day. And many items run out by lunch time. However, whatever they have is made with tender, loving care, is very fresh and tasty. The lasagna was just awesome. The barley vegetable was a bit run of the mill. The 2 women behind the counter are very friendly, and will translate everything into English. And if you eat at one of the 3 tables, tehy will want to know how is the food.

Pros: Healthy, Value

Great experience! - Edit

My friend and I visited this vegan cafe 31 Aug, 2011. It's located at underground floor of a building in commercial center. You need address to find it. The staff there were very welcoming and helpful. The chef introduced all her selections in details. They are pure-hearted people in promoting veganism. The food they serve are mainly raw and as organic as possible. We ordered daily special and tacos, freshly made juice/smoothie and lemon pie as dessert, all delicious! The price is very reasonable. We surely will go back again next time visiting Montreal!

Very nice - Edit

The small place is located in the underground tunnel system, so no walking around in the cold to find it. The staff patiently explained every single dish to me counting up all the ingredients. I decided to have the lasagna which was delicious. It was no problem that my friend was having normal brought-in ice cream, she was given a fork to try the lasagna. I will come back next time I'm in Montreal.

Pros: very friendly and well-informed staff
