Originally, I was going for the tagine and it was not what I expected.... as the person behind the counter explained, they are laid out as a take away, hence the stuff from the tagine was in one of those "keep-warm-containers" and he would have served me from that - no thank you.

The desert was heavenly - raspberry cream tart
I opted for the mushroom coffee which was disappointing - thankfully, I was still at the counter and could ask for a full glass and not 50% of foam... at the table I realized that it was not hot at all! I should have complained again, after all it's 5 Euro!

Cons: small portions, hence expensive

I really enjoyed the service and the drinks. For food, I had the sushi roll and the chilli sin carne. Unfortunately the chilli, labelled as spicy, wasn't spicy at all. It was still flavourful though! My partner got the pizza which I had a bite of, and it was incredible. I'll likely visit again and try another pizza as the pizzas look better than the bowls.

The best pizza I’ve ever eaten - Edit
I feel like there’s more superlatives and hyperbole scattered around on this app than bird seeds in Central Park (I assume, I’ve never been to New York). However, trust me when I say that I, a man who has eaten A LOT of pizza, feel extremely comfortable declaring this to be THE BEST PIZZA I’VE EVER EATEN. The ricotta and Parmesan are so incredible that if everything wasn’t clearly labelled as organic and plant based, I would have accused the chef of serving me cow cheese and lying about it. It was honestly so delicious that the only thing stopping me from buying another one straight away was how satisfying and filling the first one was. I’m only in Brussels for 2 more days but feel I simply must visit again so I can sample another menu item.

I’m not sure why Le Botaniste is advertised as a wine bar on Happy cow - they had like 2 wine choices. It’s not their fault so it won’t affect their rating.
Read moreWe had a beer and a wine, and it was pretty stock standard, although I wasn’t a fan of the Belgium beer. But hey just my taste.
I’m sure the food is good - it looked amazing but we had already eaten (again we were looking for a quick alcohol fix). But we felt a bit silly just getting a drink there as it was quite obviously just a restaurant that offered a couple of wines and beers.
So niki_nines words of wisdom to all - go to Le Botaniste for a feed, don’t make the trip just for a drink.
niki_nine wishes he could abstain from rating but it’s compulsory so standard 4 stars

An all Vegan menu. I had the sushi roll and the Spicy Chili sin Carne. Very good! Also the desserts were nice, but a bit expensive (6 euro for a very small piece of cake!).

The food was decent but nothing out of this world, and the portions could be a bit bigger. The sushi roll (starter) had a sort of mustard-ish sauce which I wasn’t a huge fan of. So the food itself gets 3 stars from me. On the plus side, the ingredients are very fresh, everything is vegan, it’s healthy, and staff are really friendly! Good for a quick lunch.

Cute concept, boring food - Edit
The location of this place is really pretty and cozy. They offer different bowls with fresh and seasonal ingredients, plus some small side dishes. You can also create your owl bowl with what you prefer. We had a sushi roll made with quinoa, that I find an innovative choice. But the roll itself was completely tasteless and the small amount of sauce on top didn’t add enough flavor. Then we had a bowl with potatoes, mushroom gravy, sourkraut and salad. Overall it was nice, but same here, not a lot of flavor. I’m not sure if the concept of this place is centered on healthy food (less seasoned?!) but my taste buds were definitely underwhelmed.
