Nice restaurant but shame it offers only one vegan option

The restaurant is very well located in the centre of Poitiers. We liked that the menu is suitable for both non-vegetarians and vegetarians alike. However if you’re vegan, the options are very restricted. None of the options on the main menu are vegan, so I had to rely on the dish of the day, which was not necessarily the best. I was very surprised that although one of the vegetarian options on the main menu was proposed without cows milk, it still contained goat’s cheese! Overall, the vegan options could be much improved.

Pros: Has both veggie and non-veggie options , Great location , Great service

Cons: Only 1 vegan option which is not on the main menu, Terrace in the shade, Food was nice but not exceptional

Vegetarian and vegan bliss in Poitiers

This tearoom and restaurant is one of the few in France run by a vegan who's a restauranteuse recognised by Michelin. Her ambitions for this delightful restaurant with a small outdoor terrace (in a quiet alley off a pedestrianized throroughfare) now extend beyond delicious meals to offer themed evenings for groups (opening Friday and Saturday evenings this summer for both concerts and events: see the website). She specialises in veggie dishes and at least one vegan main course and dessert daily, though this being France some flesh-based options are also available. Organic wine and a wide range of teas (my favourite is green oolong)are available for sale as well as with the meal. The décor is original and intimate and the friendly staff give great service in the small eating area. It is most unusual in France to find an eatery which opens from noon throughout the afternoon, thus combining a classic teatime experience with an excellent vegetarian restaurant later on. Perfect!

Pros: Opening hours great for teatime, Outside terrace is excellent, Vegan cooking unique in Poitiers

Cons: Only opens Fri/Sat evenings, Eating area small: book ahead!, Shame the French still demand meat!
