Fine - Edit
The golden milk pancakes were more gingerbread than turmeric flavored. With all the spices, they were quite dry and could have used 2x the vegan butter to taste good. The breakfast sandwich and coffee were also a let down. Probably would not return.

Me and my fiancé go here almost every weekend for breakfast. Their vegan breakfast sandwich is our favorite in the area! They always have rotating vegan pastries available as well that never fail to impress!

Expensive and just okay - Edit
Had an ok experience here. I got That Vegan Bowl and the house chai. The first ingredient listed on the menu in the bowl is rice, and they accidentally didn't put any in mine. But the tofu was perfect and the pesto had an amazing flavor. The chai was not great, despite the variety of spices listed as included in it, it was pretty bland.
Read moreMy mom got the vegan breakfast sandwich and the caramel coconut latte. The sandwich was yummy but a little hard to eat since the carrot bacon was not soft and the sandwich was a bit tall. The caramel coconut latte was delicious and probably our favorite thing out of all we ordered
It's also very expensive for what it is, everything we got was over $45, which is a little much for a cafe.
It was fine, but for the price I wouldn't go back.
Pros: Some good flavors
Cons: Expensive , Missing ingredients

There’s something for everyone here. The food was super fresh and delicious! Was very busy (obviously for good reason!!) but our food came fast and we still managed to find a place to sit outside. Looking forward to coming back here!

We came in during a bustling Sunday run on brunch and got such a glorious meal! We were lucky to snag two chairs at a table. I loved my smoothie, açaí bowl, and veggie bowl, and shared a slice of vegan cake with my girlfriend.

Heavenly! - Edit
I had the golden milk pancakes, a vegan caramel latte, and the purple rain smoothie for breakfast here. I loved it so much that we went back for lunch to get the chickpea curry with vegan crème fraiche. Breakfast was better than lunch, but I loved all of my food! I’d recommend adding tofu to the curry if you get it… without it, it was a little slim on the chickpeas.

Slammin' Vegan Breakfast Sandwich! - Edit
On this morning that I'm checking out of the Black Elephant Hostel in Portland, I find that someone swiped the remaining Vegan Donuts I had in the Community fridge 🤔 No matter, they were probably too stale to really enjoy by today anyway. So, I head on over to LB Kitchen which was recommended to me, specifically to try out their Vegan Breakfast Sandwich. I also ordered a Maple Spiced Latte, which is Vegan when one requests a plant-based milk - my go-to is Oat Milk. Both were delicious and hit the spot perfectly 🥰- WAY better than a stale (even if it IS Vegan) donut, anyway!
Read moreIf not for the fact that this place is most definitely NOT exclusively Vegan (I see bone broth on the menu - ewwwww!) I would have given them at least 4.5 or 5 stars.
Odd thing about Portland, ME: while there don't seem to be any venues that are 100% Vegan, I was never made to feel awkward, excluded or any of the other thousands of adjectives we Vegans have surely experienced elsewhere. I got a very welcoming, "accepted" vibe here - I just wish they'd take down all the BLM signs I see on almost every block - that organization proved to be a huge fraud, and anyway All LIFE Matters!
P.S. Also took an Oatmeal Raisin cookie to go for the Amtrak journey back to Boston (Veggie Galaxy, here I come! 😋)

Amazing and delicious food! - Edit
While on a recent trip to Portland, my partner and I stopped at LB Kitchen for breakfast. At the time, the vegan breakfast sandwich sounded like the ideal fit for this particularly foggy day. Little did I expect, I would eat one of the best sandwiches I have EVER had in my life!! I don't say these words lightly. The vegan breakfast sandwich was the right balance of sweet, savory and creamy - a sandwich to truly enjoy. Outside of the sandwich, I also tried a drink they had with cacao, mushroom, and coffee, which was original and a perfect complement to my breakfast sandwich. Definitely recommend LB Kitchen!!

Lots of options but not all vegan - Edit
Lots of options for everyone (so a good place for those who do eat meat) and the vegan options are excellent. I loved the LB Bowl and the bacon carrots. Their coffee and vegan cookies and cake are also really good. Prices are reasonable to moderate for a sit down establishment.

Freshly Fulfilling! - Edit
After searching online for a Portland ME restaurant that offers Whole Food Plant Based Options, I found the LB Kitchen (named after owners Lee & Bryna), a sunny but crisp 15-20 minute walk from the Holiday Inn (weather will vary). Though my handy KN95 dangled jauntily from my mittened wrist, it was unneeded as patrons place their orders at a makeshift counter in front of the outside entrance. The gentleman who took mine was cheerfully patient as I perused the menu posted on the glass window, and helpfully explained what dishes were WFPB and could be prepared without oil. 10-15 minutes later I was heading back to the hotel with my lunch (there is minimal outdoor seating behind the establishment).
Read moreThe food was exceptional given the standard sauces, dressings, and other processed/oil based ingredients I asked not be included. I started with the Community Bowl: a liberal base of tasty brown rice and black beans with a leafy pile of arugula (great for dilating blood vessels & lowering BP), and some tomato chunks, almond slivers, carrot shavings, and lightly salted avocado slices. Delish. I followed that with a kale side salad with shaved radish & carrot. The kale, like every other ingredient in each dish, was exceptionally fresh. It was also seasoned with a delightful lemon/vinegar combo. Lastly, the Sweet & Salty Oats, which made a great dessert: perfectly cooked rolled oats with a plucky cinnamon flavor punctuated by a subtle salty sweetness (I asked them to go light on the maple syrup). There were just enough tiny raisins and cacao nibs to complement the cinnamon and bring the flavor of the almond butter to the foreground. Fabulous price, flexible service, and fresh food—I look forward to a return visit!
Pros: Ultra-fresh ingredients, Flexible service, Excellent no-oil options
Cons: No indoor dining

I’m both gf and vegan and find it pretty difficult to find options to eat out. My mom and I came here for breakfast and we’re in absolute heaven. They have so many gf and vegan options and can make quite a few dishes vegan by replacing crème fresh or egg with their cashew ricotta or tofu. I had the LB bowl with tofu and carrot bacon and my mom had the harissa bowl with carrot bacon instead of egg.

Super Delicious!! - Edit
Although there were not a lot of vegan options, our meal was one that I will rate as one of my favorite breakfast meals ever. The vegan breakfast sandwich had a giant slab of tofu, tasty carrot bacon, arugula, creamy cashew cheez, vegan mayo and was made on sourdough bread. We also had golden milk latte, green machine smoothie and chocolate chip cookies. All were YUM! Staff were super sweet. Drawback was they didn't have in house dining. On nice days, they have picnic tables out back.

Delicious Takeout - Edit
I went here two days in a row because I liked it so much. The super vegan sandwich was delicious, and the avocado toast was great too! Both the pumpkin latte and caramel coconut lattes were also delightful. My vegetarian partner and omnivore parents all enjoyed their food as well. There's a first come, first serve seating area around the back of the building with 4 small tables; the staff is super friendly and are happy to check if there's a table free and point you in the right direction to get there.
