Impressed

We were able to order a variety of vegan apps and a main that were all colorful, tasty and came out super fast.

Realized one improvement would be to have the coconut encrusted tofu be vegan.

Great location and salads

Ordered the 3 greens and a grain with coconut crusted tofu. Super delicious. Tofu is just right. Not too dry. Tofu portion available on several salads.

Pros: Table on the beach, Fresh ingredients

Good food and location

They have avocado toast for breakfast which was good. We went back for dinner and it was a lively scene with a band and twinkle lights on the beach. They have tofu options for most meals to replace diners like fish. We tried the burger with beyond meat and it was amazing

Misleading menu, don’t try hard to accommodate vegans

The vegan burger option requires you to get it without a bun- we were informed that the bun is made with egg and they have no vegan bun option. In addition, the “coconut crusted tofu” batter had egg in it, so you can’t add that to any dishes. Disappointed to find this out after the menu wrongly suggests that there are plenty of vegan options

Pros: View/location

Cons: Few vegan options, Expensive

Beautiful setting, very long wait

My husband and I ate dinner here and enjoyed the beautiful view and live music. I got a vegan burger, which tasted a lot like a beyond burger made gluten free by not having a bun. My husband got the vegetarian version of the pineapple fried rice, which was beautiful! It was in a hollowed out pineapple, and the tofu looked amazing. We had to wait over an hour for a table, but otherwise, this was a good experience.

Vegan items and cool view but need more variety

I went here because they showed vegan options and the scenery looked amazing. We got decent service, and pricing was okay, but the menu left something to be desired. The worst item on the menu is dip that sounds like vegan nachos but is basically a salsa with 3 sweet potatoes. The fruit smoothies and cocktails are good. They did make a special tofu dish for the kids so extra points for that.

Pros: Accommodating , Beautiful scenery

Cons: Not much variety , Vegan menu is lacking

Amazing Food & Service

We loved the Lava Lava Beach Club! We told the server that we were vegan and she made us feel at home and went through all the options. The onion rings were spectacular and even the Spicy BBQ sauce that came with it was so delicious. We had the Tofu verity the Ginger Black Bean Sauce and noodles. The mushrooms were so good and broccoli. We loved the vibe and recommend it for sure.

Pros: Service was amazing , View and beach setting , Taste of the food was incredible

Cons: Limited options, A bit pricy for the portions

Location is the only draw

I used to go to LLBC a lot years ago when they had one vegan entree, which they’ve since taken off the menu. I read another review that says they have the best edemame, but you can go to KTA (grocery store) here for an equivalent version, but much much cheaper! The beach location is great, especially at sunset and the only reason I didn’t give them just one star. If you just want to have a drink on the beach and an appetizer, this is your place! If you want a good meal, don’t bother - better vegan options and beach location at the Canoe House at the Mauna Lani.

Location Location Location

Like other places on the big island, Lava Lava Beach Club has added more vegan/vegetarian options to the menu but it is still pretty limited unless you just want to sub plant based substitutes for other meats in dishes, which I never find as tasty as a thoughtfully made vegan or vegetarian meal. That being said, having the options is better than nothing and the atmosphere and location of this restaurant make it worth finding something that will work on the menu!

Pros: Beach Location, Local drink options , Friendly service

Cons: Minimal vegan menu items, Long waits

Much better vegan options now!

We've always loved Lava Lava! Incredible location on the beach, and they're usually pretty packed so get there early. Today we waited in a long line to get in when they opened at 12 but got a fabulous table on the sand. It's a splurge but you're paying more for the experience.

Pros: Plenty of vegan options, Can sub crispy fried tofu for meat or fish, Idyllic location right on the sand

Cons: Expensive! $17 for a salad + $8 for tofu.

Delicious (but few) vegan options

The edamame was the best edamame I’ve had in my life!! We also enjoyed the chips and mango salsa. We were here for lunch so as far as entrees go, there were only salads or grains/salad bowls. Mine was delicious and I had it topped with coconut fried tofu!! My only wish was for more tofu and less salad (the actual salad bowl was massive!).

Pros: Helpful staff, Tofu!, Large portions

Cons: Few vegan options

Just a couple options, but worth it for the location

Beautiful place to eat right on the beach! The only vegan lunch menu options are the hummus and pita plate minus the feta cheese, which was big enough for two kids to share; the veggie wrap with tofu; and two salads to which you can add tofu. Adults each got a beyond burger, which we had to ask many questions to arrive at the conclusion that it’s served on a brioche bun and they have no vegan bread options. Our server suggested wrapping it in lettuce, and we asked about having it served as a wrap instead, because they do also have a veggie wrap. Our beyond burger wraps ended up being a totally great lunch. It’s a bit annoying, though, that they charged us $4 extra for taking off half the ingredients of our burgers and substituting a wrap, so they were $20 each. Ah, Hawaii.

Amazing food and cocktails in the most gorgeous location

We sat at a table right on the sand at sunset, enjoyed live music, and it was so relaxing and incredible. Worth the 40 minute+ wait, as we were able to walk around the beach and grassy area until our buzzer notified us our table was ready. As for the food, don't be disappointed that there are not a lot of vegan options because the Farm to Beach (curry vegetable and rice dish) is sensational! Be sure to add the breaded tofu. It's pricey but you get a lot of food - I ate until I was really full and still had a full lunch's worth of leftovers. They have a really fun tropical cocktail menu too.

Pros: Incredible food, Location/views, Great service

Cons: Expensive (but worth it)

Disappointed

The cocktails and service from Dason were terrific. However, very few entree options on the menu are actually vegan. If you're happy eating appetizers, the mango salsa & tortilla chips, french fries (hold the two aoli dips) and Club Med plate (hold the feta) are good, but I don't really want to make a dinner out of chips and french fries. The Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice can't really be made vegan as it's pre-made with egg. That leaves one curry dish for a vegan entree. Great location, great vibe and lots of fun, but sad that we can't really eat there.

Pros: location, service, cocktails

Cons: not many vegan options, expensive!

Great beach lunch spot

I was pleasantly surprised to discover how many vegan options are available at Lava Lava beach club. I’ve eaten there a few times so far on my trip. Vegetarian options are noted on the menu & many can be made vegan. You can also add tofu to the salads.

Pros: Many veg options, Big portions
