We shared the vegan cheese plate which was full of flavor. The cheeses are more like dips but are tasty. Cauliflower tacos were are favorite.

Delicious food with plenty of vegan options - Edit
We had brunch here and loved it. We started with a cinnamon roll and the bagel with carrot “lox.” We could have stopped there but the menu had so many options, we just kept eating. The waffle and “chicken” sandwich was super tasty, and the Laughing Seed salad with the sesame ginger dressing was great, too. We even indulged in some Bloody Marys because how often can you find vegan versions? I definitely would go back. I’d give it five stars if that were allowed.

Very tasteful and mostly vegan - Edit
We were seated outside and really enjoyed our diner. Our friends were neither vegan nor vegetarian and also enjoyed their dishes. They have real cheese but most items can be made with vegan cheese. I had the bbq cauliflower tacos, I loved the texture and the taste. We will definitely come back to the Laughing Seed.

Definitely one of the BEST vegetarian restaurants ever, with ample vegan options. Highly recommend the Seed burger. Super friendly staff, too, and a great atmosphere.

Terrific gem! - Edit
I visited here in May when the weather was nice so we enjoyed the outdoor seating. We visited from out of town and were very impressed with the menu as almost everything had a vegan option. The buffalo cauliflower tacos were very tasty as was the burger. It was so good that if we had more time I would be back to try more items.

Underwhelming. Just ok. - Edit
Agree with some of the recent comments that I found Laughing Seed underwhelming. There were three of us and we tried a few things off the brunch menu (Sundays only for some reason) - cinnamon buns, chickn and waffles, and a breakfast plate (tofu scramble, potatoes, kale). The food needs an update in 2019. I'm sure the food served here was revolutionary when Laughing Seed first opened, but today the food just tastes flavorless and bland.
Read moreChicken and waffle sandwich was the best thing we had, but nothing mind blowing. I was really expecting more since this place is always touted when talking about the vegan scene in Asheville. We were not impressed.
Also the servers have some attitude and not in a good way. Normally I don't comment on service as I just care about the food, but the hostess gave us some attitude when we sat on the patio (apparently we were supposed to go inside to ask to be seated? There was no sign).
Pros: Vegetarian place, Nice patio
Cons: Food was underwhelming, Service could be better

Not as Good as I Expected - Edit
Maybe I just had high expectations for laughing seed, or maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but I had the jackfruit tacos and they weren't as good as I'd expected. The textures and flavors just weren't up to par with jackfruit tacos I'd had in the past. I'll probably go back and try something else, but we'll see if they redeem themselves.

Underwhelmed - Edit
I heard so much good stuff so my husband and I have it a try. We had their burger which was rather bland and the hummus plate wasn’t that great idea. Overall a pricey place for average food. However, their raw cheesecake is out of this world. If I known, I would of had two slices of cheesecake and call it good.

Almost everything there was vegan or could be made vegan! Great whole food options if you’re looking for a healthier option. They source a ton of their food from local place including gluten free bread from a local bakery.

Good food - Edit
My family and I were in town for an overnight trip and went here for dinner on a Saturday. It was easy enough to find free parking and walk to the restaurant, but during busy times, you'd probably have to pay for parking (which is close by).
Read moreI got the double laughing seed burger, and they were much smaller than expected. Taste was good. I thought the coleslaw was too oily (I didn't expect oil at all). Other family members enjoyed their entrees (most ordered something with rice and beans), but one thought the black beans were too spicy. I think the prices were a little high, but that's probably because it's a downtown spot. Waiter wasn't that attentive, for example, she never offered to refresh our drinks.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, No meat served
Cons: Slightly overpriced, Limited parking, Waitstaff not that attentive

Delish - Edit
This place is super cute and trendy. They have crafty mocktails, creative appetizers, and rotating specials. I had the Dragon Bowl and added local tempeh. Sans the dollop of kimchi (personal taste) I thought it was great! It had cauliflower rice, arugula, cabbage, avocado, beets, pumpkin seeds, and lemon tahini dressing. We also shared jalapeño onion fries with a chipotle dip... SO good. Im trying to be better about waste, and the to-go cups are not biodegradable so I declined a take away mocktail. And I didn’t get dessert although they looked good. The service was very attentive and friendly.

What to get?! - Edit
My mom and I like to have lunch dates here and we go back and forth on choosing what we're going to order and share. There's so much! We usually always start with the jalapeno fries. For the entree, lately I've been drawn to their salads. They're really great. I love the taco salad the most. It's a generous, flavorful meal. My mom really enjoys the harmony bowl. I don't think you could go wrong with any of it.

So many great options. The drinks were great, my jackfruit over grits was a little bland but my boyfriend got the midnight mushroom bowl and it was wonderful.
