OK food. Awesome cakes. - Edit
Came here for lunch during our stay in Asheville. We had a soup and a couple salads. Food was pretty good but nothing amazing. The cake, however, was phenomenal! So were the cookies we picked up after. Would highly recommend coming here just for those even if you can't sit down for a full meal.

Lively food! - Edit
Great healthful and delicious choices. I will need to visit many more times before trying everything I want to. Eating light tonight, so I had the Brussels Sprouts which were amazing! Husband had the vegetarian version of the cheese and fauxcuterie board. Pickled smoked and cured veggies with some interesting cheeses (can be plant based options)

Always a fave - Edit
I have eaten at the Laughing Seed hundreds of times in the last 7 years and I don't know if I have ever had anything as amazing as the pan-seared grit cakes. I got the Harmony Bowl (my go-to) with kimchi and lemon tahini dressing (instead of the sesame ginger) and remembered why I love this place so much.

Excellent flavors! - Edit
Our party of 3 (1 vegan, two non-vegans) ate here last night and the quality of the food (taste, freshness) was wonderful. Definitely would rank this among the best vegan restaurant food I have had. I ordered the avocado BLT, and my husband had the Reuben with sweet potato “pastrami”. We would love to eat there again!

SO GOOD - Edit
First stop on our trip back into Asheville and wow I’m so glad we came. Our table ordered:
Read more- Buffalo cauliflower tacos (SO GOOD. Perfectly crisp, lots of cauliflowers)
- Tostados (also so good, the sauces in the bowl were amazing. I treated it like a taco salad and broke up the tostada but you could also eat the tostado then eat the salad)
- Soyrizo burrito special (perfectly filling and also tasty)
Honestly, you can’t go wrong!

Mind-blowing meal - Edit
This was such an excellent stop on our visit to Asheville. These were the best buffalo cauliflower tacos I’ve ever had. Something about the chipotle ranch smoothed out the vinegar of the buffalo sauce in such a complementary way. And the tostada lived up to expectations. It was giant, more than the two of us could finish (we shared both dishes). I already can’t wait to go back.

Worth checking out - Edit
When I worked in downtown AVL I’d occasionally get the dragon bowl for dinner. It’s good. I have enjoyed other menu options from there as well but mostly have walked away feeling like it was just okay.

Delicious. Had the Buffalo cauliflower tacos, jalapeño onion fries; and curried chickpea wrap. Along with two porters and this was filling and flavorful. So much more on the menu we need to try!

Lots of classic options. I had the tostada ensalada and it was massive. Husband had the buffalo tacos and I had a bit of food envy. Very friendly and attentive wait staff. Can make reservations in advance. Whiter street downtown with great people watching.

Awesome - Edit
Terrific vegetarian restaurant! Drinks and food both top notch, and sitting outside on the patio was a real treat. Service was a bit slow, but nothing too serious. Would definitely go back!

Good food - Edit
I had the onion and jalapeño fries with vegan ranch, the black bean sweet potato stew, and the pakoras with Punjabi sauce. It was all very good. The staff were friendly and the food came out quickly. However, I docked my review one star for the restaurant not being 100% vegan and another for vegan cheese costing extra. If anything, they should make dairy cheese cost extra to offset the vegan cheese cost and to be punitive to the cow rapist/murderers. All in all, it was tasty and I would go back.

Cons: Charge extra for vegan cheese. , Not a completely vegan restaurant.

Their Reuben, seed burger, brunch, and desserts are delicious. Must specify for vegan and gluten-free. Pre-COVID, I loved to sit at the bar. Their drinks are inventive and tasty. I love the Bloody Mary.

My grandmother liked her rueben, but the tempeh on my harmony bowl was unbelievable salty. Rice and beans were good. Kimchi was delicious. Baklava was dry.

Got the cauliflower buffalo tacos and vegan mac and cheese and it was AMAZING. The tacos were quite spicy but I loved them. Cute location and with covid we got to sit outside with warm heaters. A MUST when coming to asheville

Lots of options! - Edit
Due to Covid, all orders are placed at a booth and you must sit outside in the cold (they didn’t have their heaters on), so that was pretty disappointing. The food is very good and they do serve alcohol.

Terrible - Edit
Terrible experience. I ordered the Reuben with vegan cheese and was surprised when the price came to over $18 for one sandwich. The lady told me there was a $2 charge for a slice of vegan cheese. This is a vegetarian restaurant. Why should I be punished for being vegan? After ordering the sandwich, I waited for over 30 minutes and still no sandwich. I flagged down a staff member who checked on my order and brought it out to me. She said it was left on the counter at the front desk. She apologized but did not offer to remake it or make up for it in anyway. The sandwich was tiny, lukewarm, barley had any of the vegan cheese on it, tasted plain, and the side of chips it came with were soggy. I emailed management about my experience and they never responded. Terrible food and terrible customer service.

Great vegan food! - Edit
The Laughing Seed Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville. While it is a vegetarian restaurant, most items are or can be easily modified to be vegan. They have a great patio and outdoor seating area. Today was the first time we’ve been since the pandemic and while they are doing “take out” only, you can eat on the patio and they will bring your food and drinks out to you. We also noticed today that they have a full Thanksgiving menu for pre-order and we are excited to try this since we will be back in Asheville for the holidays. Today we had the spinach pesto manicotti, the mac n cheese with broccoli, the buffalo cauliflower tacos, and the jalapeño onion fries with vegan chipotle ranch and all were incredible!! We’ll definitely keep coming back!
