Fresh and healthful

Vegan options are marked on the menu and there's a good variety, including vegan pizza. We enjoyed our faloosh salad (vegetarian), fries, and Buddha bowl (vegan). We were there in July 2025 and the restaurant was not air conditioned -- a little disappointing but not a deal- breaker.

Pros: Many vegan options, Good fries, Large cocktail menu

Cons: Street parking available but not abundant, No AC

Delicious, good vegan options

Nice outdoor seating area, very relaxed and casual. Vegan items clearly marked on menu. Highly recommend the Buddha bowl.

Decent Vegan Options

There’s a decent number of vegan options from bowls to pizza and some starters. I wish they identified vegan cocktails as well as they have a large drink menu but not reassuring that vegan drinks are not identified. I had an excellent vegan pizza that had Daiya cheese on it, tasted way better than when I’ve used Daiya at home.

It’s ok

It’s too bad because I remember it having more options and higher quality. However the menu seems to have less options for vegans now and some items such as the pizza are not very tasty. The fried beans are good and the miso bowl.

Great family dinner

Nice place, good service, lots of options. We had the Bahn mi, the pizza with cow's cheese and some other sandwiches. Laid back and relaxed. Good local beer selection.

Toronto prices in Sudbury

They have veganaise so can do a lovely chipotle mayo for the deep-fried pickles. Thumbs up.
House red wine was good.
Dinner on a chilly Winter's night was quinoa salad on baby greens - possibly a poor choice on my part. The quinao portion of the dish was cold (seemed to come straight out of the fridge) but tasty and generous nonetheless.
If you're vegan, this is a more-than-decent dinner destination. I'll be back for the deep-fried pickles and a pizza (they have Daiya).

Not impressed

Downtown it's the only place that advertises vegetarian/vegan friendly. They have lots of room and a big patio. An extensive liquor menu and huge assortment of beers. That said, I gave it three chances and it did not have good food. First time I got a vegan pizza with Dayia vegan cheese. It was so oily and greasy, combined with the fact the crust was soggy it was not enjoyable. The next time I got a falafel sandwich... it tasted like salt and that was it. Not very fresh. The third time I gave their pizza a chance again just with no cheese (vegan or cow). It was still greasy and only had canned toppings... to make matters worse I realized the bathrooms were dirty and had a bug problem. I really wish this venue could have been my regular hangout... with it's downtown location and extensive beer menu.

More like Weeping Buddha

My partner and I, both vegans, came here for drinks and dinner.

Sweet location by the train tracks, dingy place, but a huge patio in the back (smoking, and man were people smoking).

The service was the crappiest I've ever had. No one knew if there was room on the patio, and no one would put us on the possibly non-existent waiting list. Luckily the one non-idiot server snagged us a spot.

The generally angry waitress spilled used cream all over my partner's leg while badly cleaning our sticky table. She then wandered off, did some other stuff, and eventually came back with, I swear to Buddha, a single sad dry napkin.

The deep-fried pickles with banana ketchup were flipping fantastic and made our night somewhat bearable (well, that and the beer).

The pizza was terrible: flaccid and tasteless, but we ate it anyway because we were starving. We ordered a curry chickpea salad. It was, without joking, canned chickpeas caked in dry curry powder and thrown on wilted spinach. It was entirely inedible. The waitress disagreed and refused to take it off the bill. She, needless to say, received no tip.

Luckily we live, far, far away from Sudbury and never have to consider going here again.

1 sad cow (for the pickles and beer)

A hidden treasure!

I lived in Sudbury for a few years before I discovered the Laughing Buddha. The "zen za" pizza is to die for, and I love the hummus with pita. It's so refreshing to have so many menu choices in Sudbury.

I love the patio. If you're there in the summer, be sure to check it out! And if you're chilly, ask for them to light one of the heaters.

Pros: Tasty, Good selection, Patio

Cons: Service is slow
