Decent place

They were out of shiitake, which we found out after ordering and paying. So we got the spicy tofu instead, and it was pretty good.
Service was ok.

New favorite place

I went here for lunch on a Monday. There were 4 different lunch “menus” to choose from (2 of them completely vegan) each consisting of three different smaller dishes. We got the menu with sweet potato noodles, green beans, and sichuan tofu. We also got a jianbing with shiitake and tofu. Be aware that the jianbing itself contains egg but will be made vegan upon request. The jianbing cost 119 kr and you also got a small bowl of some cucumber salad which was amazing, a tip is to add some chili oil! There is also a pot of rice that you can have on the side. The food was amazing and the staff was really friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

Pros: AMAZING food, Friendly staff, Fairly cheap

Need to come back

I need to try many other things in their menu but I had two of their small plates and they were delicious. Very tiny and at time uncomfy space but will definitely come back or ask for take away

Definitely recommend!

Very good, but still very affortable, freshly made chinese food. I had their crepe with spicy tofu and it was amazing.😄The portion was quite big and definitely worth every dollar (or kronor). Would definitely go there again!💗

Good but salty

I had the set menu with eggplant, tofu with mushrooms and glass noodles. The eggplant dish was much better than I anticipated since I don't usually like eggplant, but to my surprise it a pleasurable consistency and rich taste, just a little bit too salty. The tofu with mushrooms was way too salty and the tofu was a bit too dense. The glass noodles was pretty nice.

Pros: Decent price

Cons: Too much salt

Fresh and tasty

A nice place for some Chinese food with home-cooked feel. Vegan dishes are clearly marked and the stuff is accomodating. The place is small and quite popular so be there early. I’ve got a set menu with eggplant, tofu with mushrooms and glass noodles. Would definetely recommend the eggplant dish, so savory. Tofu is not spicy, quite minimalistic but still tasty and noodles are juicy and refreshing.

Pros: Different vegan options, Affordable

Cons: Can be crowded

Really tasty food!

Going there I was set on eating the Jianbing with vegan chicken but upon arrival I got to know that only the tofu one is vegan (and checking now I also see they marked it as vg on the website, they said there’s eggwhite in it 🙄). But anyway had 3 small dishes instead which were actually superdelicious and the rice was included. However it shouldn’t be that hard to replace the vegchicken to a fully vegan one? Upsetting.

Small place but Popular

I’ve been to Lao Lao many times. I love Chinese food and the vegan options are many here! The food is great, service likewise! Only open for a few hours a day. But definitely worth a visit if in Stockholm!

Many vegan options

They serve jianbing (chinese crepe) and it’s possible to get it vegan. It was good/okay. The small dishes looked better, many of which were vegan.

Tasty, but could be more flavourful

Tried the tofu jiangbing with shiitake. It was very tasty, and I wasn’t disappointed, however, the tofu wasn’t very seasoned and tasted a bit plain.

Pros: Rice included

Cons: Small seating area

Yum!!

This place has been a recent discovery for me, but all three times I've visited it it's been pretty damn great. There seems to be just about enough of everything to satisfy every vegan's tastebuds, but I would specifically recommend the eggplant, tofu with shittake and the savoury pancake whose name I have forgotten. At Lao Lao you certainly get good value for your money (especially since you can help yourself to more rice and sauces), and as their only weakness, aside for the fact that they serve animal products, I would point the fact that one can't get a receipt if one pays cash. I thought there was something temporarily wrong with the machine, but no, apparently you must pay by card in order to get a receipt. It shouldn't be that way, that customers are either forced to "go with the flow" and embrace the cashless vision, which is insanely pervasive in Sweden, or no taxes will be paid for the transaction, apparently.

Update April 2022: Lately it hasn't been a problem getting a receipt, though I have asked for it specifically.

Okeyish

I eaten here twice, the first time I tried a combination of small dishes which turned out to be an excellent idea. I really enjoyed the tastes and I got good advice on what tea that would work well with my food.

The second time I tried the Jiangbing with spicy tofu, this tasted okey but not as okey as the combination of the smalelr dishes. In fact the best part of the Jiangbang was the cucumber sallad.

I acctually would like more of a al a carte menu, but doubt this will happen.

Pros: Tasty food, Good teas, Worth the price

Cons: Limited options

Lots of options. Cheap and great!

I’ve been here twice now and the first time I got the crepes. Super yummy! Last night we ordered takeout and we were four people and bought 12 small dishes to share. After about three dishes each we were all full. I think one could actually be satisfied with just two dishes plus rice. Super good vegan meal for about 90 SEK that will get your tummy happy. Lovely!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Great staff

Cons: Some of the dishes might be sold out.

Good food, friendly atmospher

I’ve visited Lao Lao a couple of times and always been very happy with my meal. The staff is friendly and there’s a nice relaxed atmospher. Unfortunatley they’ve changed their opening times and are no longer open on week nights.

Pros: Tasty food, Vegan & vegetarian options, Friendly staff
