Not totally my cup of tea, but still done well - Edit
I first tried to go to Landia a year ago, and after schlepping around Vienna for quite a while trying to find it's slightly obscure location, I arrived only to be told that they were shutting early due to a lack of custom. However, on my next trip to Vienna, I managed to go again after much effort (it really is a bit tough to find), and found it in a much healthier situation.
Read moreThe staff were very friendly, and patient with our poor attempts to pronounce things in German and our need to have certain bits of the menu explained to us. The food itself was...well, I feel that I can't be too harsh on it, as I am coming to the realisation that I'm simply not a big fan of central European cuisine. A lot of the food is vegetarian and vegan equivalents of traditional dishes from this part of the world, like goulash and schnitzel. In that sense, they were perfectly successful, I just find much of the local food a bit bland it seems. To reiterate, the problem is with me, not them, I think Landia did a good job of what it was trying to do.
Excepting my taste issues, the place was very nice, a cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, good beer, and a reasonable price. If you're up for potatoes, breadcrumbs, cheese and 'ham', this seems like a fine choice.

This place is incredible. Great traditional Gasthaus vibes, we ate outside as it was sunny but it looked very cosy inside. We had the seitan steak with redwine sauce, and the seitan schnitzel. The steak had a great texture and the sauce was delicious, although it was quite salty. The schnitzel was perfect and even came with a vegan tartar sauce. For desert we had an apricot dumpling which was just how I remember it before I went vegan. Not as cheap as other places but so worth it. They have a huge menu and lots of homemade drinks.

Die Meinungen spalten sich über die Speisen, aber über eins ist sich das Internet einig - der Zwiebelrostbraten kann was. Also bin ich dem nachgegangen. Ich hatte noch nie einen tierischen, aber der war echt der Hammer. So saftiges und zartes Vleisch, mit einem eeecht authentischem Semmelknödel und der würzige Sauce - einfach perfekt. Auch super liebe Bedienung!

Wir haben hier das vegane Schnitzel und den von vielen empfohlenen Ziebelrostbraten. Das Essen war super lecker!! Wir können beides absolut empfehlen! Es war ein Traum, der Preis hat sich absolut gelohnt und wir werden wieder kommen! :)

I had Goulash with bread dumplings. I got takeaway and they were super fast—we waited 5 minutes max. The goulash is made with rehydrated soy steaks and had an incredible flavor. Be warned: it’s very filling 😂. Price: €14.80.

Gutes Essen mit großer Auswahl, alles sehr lecker mit ein bisschen Luft noch nach oben. Soßen hätten bisschen besser abgeschmeckt sein können die Konsistenz der Braten war immer sehr weich leider. Auch verstehe ich nicht das eine „nur“ vegetarische Gericht auf der Karte. Aber ja meckern auf hohem Niveau, sonst alles Top!

The pirogi where really tasty and also the cordon bleu. Has a good range of vegan authentic meals, not as pricey. The mushroom ragut was a bit bland unfortunately. Restaurant itself is a bit dark.

The seasonal Vegansl (vegan mock goose) was amazing. It came with bread dumplings and red cabbage. The vegansl was really tender and flavorful. The sides complimented it very well.

Landia is the place to be if you want a typical Austrian restaurant experience. Very friendly waiter and delicious seitan steak. A bit too salty for me but not a big problem. Prices are fair for a big city and portions are filling.

Auch wenn das Lokal von außen und innen nicht besonders schick, sondern eher schlicht und rustikal ist - das Essen ist fantastisch! Wenn man Lust auf deftige österreichische Hausmannskost hat, ist man hier genau richtig. Wir waren gleich zwei Mal in der einen Woche dort, in der wir Wien besucht haben und wir waren beide Male begeistert. So gut wie jedes Gericht kann man, wenn es nicht schon von vorneherein vegan ist, vegan zubereitet bekommen.
