good food but they gave me meat - Edit
This would have been a 5 star restaurant, the food was delicious and the waitress was very nice. but my friend and I ordered all vegan food and they gave us one beef and we didn’t realize until we took a bite. she gave us a new dish but definitely be wary of what they give you and double check it’s vegan

Good basic Ethiopian - Edit
This cute spot is in downtown New Haven which means lots of buses can get you here. Also, it’s just off Chapel Street.
Read moreThe misir wat was spicy, but not overly. The cabbage was yummy as well as the Goman. Large portion and plenty of injera.
Really nice service.
Totally recommend.
Pros: Portions , Location , Flavors

Great Ethiopian - Edit
I’m newer to Ethiopian cuisine but I have a good friend who isn’t. She brought me here the other day and it was very delicious. I can’t wait to go back!

Good ethiopian food - Edit
Not the best i’ve had but it always satisfies my cravings. If you catch the food truck on York St it’s half the price. the injeera is a little more sour than i’m used to

So many delicious options! - Edit
All of their vegetarian entrees are vegan, so there’s about eight or so options. I always get the platter, where you can pick four of the dishes and get to try all of them laid out on a big piece of injera bread, with an abundance of injera on the side. It’s so delicious! My favorite is the lentils. One small gripe is that last night they got our order wrong and swapped chickpeas for collared greens, but at least it was still vegan so we ate it anyways.

Delicious - Edit
I adore Lalibela; they're one of my favorite restaurants in New Haven.
Read moreTheir injera is delicious and it's the perfect texture -- the chew is so satisfying.
They have TONS of vegan options, and the majority of their vegetarian offerings are actually vegan (minus an appetizer or two & dessert).
Fosolia is my favorite, hands down. It's so, so good. Ater kik is my least favorite, but I still eat it if it's in front of me.
Portions are good and it's a great value. Get the vegetarian combo with a date/friend and you're probably still bringing home leftovers.
Staff is super friendly (albeit slow) and the restaurant is always clean. Expect to walk since it's New Haven.
Pros: Delicious, Good value, Friendly staff
Cons: Difficult parking

Best Ethiopian food! - Edit
I love eating a giant (vegan) Ethiopian feast and have done so in many cities. Lalibela is some of the best Ethiopian I've ever tasted! The service is fantastic! At our last visit, the owner came around and spoke to each table, just to check-in and say hello. Great establishment, a must when in New Haven! (Four stars only because it is not fully vegan.)

Best. Ever. - Edit
This is our lunch spot when we’re in the mood for driving to New Haven. Half of their entire menu is innately vegan with no need for any modification! The lunch buffet is the best value-10$ and all you can eat. They always have at least 6 vegan options during lunch Mon- Sat. They do also serve meat. The food is incredible kind of similar to a less spicy Indian food. You can eat with your hands using injera bread (which is insanely good). This is one of our favorite restaurants, we’ve been going for years. There is street-side meter parking which is sometimes difficult. If you drive farther down the street, take a right at the first light there is a decently priced parking garage. Staff has always been friendly.

Cons: Parking often a problem, Food can be inconsistent
