Good Indian option on Bishy Road

Lal Quila is a good choice if you're looking for a nice Indian restaurant near to the centre of York. The menu includes lots of vegetable mains and sides, most of which are vegan as they don't cook using ghee. Other dishes can easily be made vegan by asking them to exclude yoghurt or cream. All the classics are available, including veg balti, madras, dhansak and vindaloo. Some nice sides too including sag aloo, chana masala and tarka daal. Everything we tried was very good. Plenty of choice for your carnivore friends too.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Knowledge staff, Authentic Indian food

Cons: Vegan dishes not clearly marked on the menu
