Losing quality, disappointed - Edit

First two times I visited this place in 2017 breakfast (Veganer 2.0) was great. Last time, in march 2018, they didn‘t have the dips as others already mentioned. Also there was very little salad on the plate, they didn‘t have orange juice either and the latte macchiato was almost cold.
Pretty disappointing development!

Pros: If all ingredients are available breakfast is very

Cons: slow unorganized service, many things not always on stock

Vegan Options Partly not available - Edit

We went there for the vegan breakfast (they currently offer 2 vegan options on the menu). But for both some ingredients where missing, so the waitress just served us non-vegan butter and honey (she clearly didn't understood what vegan means). After we pointed it out she apologized and offered us compensation - so we got a lot of jam, since that was the only vegan spread available (not even the vegan magarine).
Soy milk for coffee and tea was available.
I cannot really recommend this place, although the waitress was nice and tried her best, but was quite clueless about veganism).

Pros: tasty vegan pancake

Cons: vegan options not entirley available , friendly but clueless waitress

Vegan breakfast options partly not available - Edit

Bakery with seating options. On the menu, they have two vegan breakfasts, however one was not available (the Vegan 2.0 - none of the dips was on stock). I took the sweet vegan breakfast (the only other vegan choice) which consists of coffee, a pancake with fruit salad, two bread rolls and spread for about 9 Euros. My order came in bits and pieces with over 20 minutes in between - as if these were several courses... Quality was ok, but nothing special. No dairy-free milk available for your coffee. Clearly not recommended as they advertise with vegan options that are not available in reality.

Cons: Door bell is really annoying, it rings every time , Service slow and unfriendly., Vegan options very limited although advertised on

Vegan options not fully available. Unfriendly staff. - Edit

We ordered the "Veganer 2.0" option. A few minutes after we ordered, the staff came back and informed us about missing ingredients to make the two dips, which are part of the menu. We were asked, if we want to order any other breakfast option instead of our original choice. We answered that we are eating vegan only (and so any non-vegan breakfast would not be possible for us) and asked, if there would be an alternative for the dips (e.g. fruits, any other vegan additional) or if we could get a little discount because of the missing dips. The staff reacted unfriendly: First, fruits would not be available because of possible other guests who maybe would order some of the fruit-based breakfasts. Second, a discount wouldn't be possible as well because of the limitations of the cash register system. We didn't get any friendly suggestion to solve the situation. Our only options were to leave or to order our 'Veganer 2.0' with two missing dips, but at full price. Because we came a long way to eat our vegan breakfast at 'Laib und Leben', we stayed with our too expensive and unfriendly sold breakfasts. Food was okay (especially the vegan green pesto was tasty), but because of the unfriendly way the staff handled us and the fact, that they showed no interest to solve the problem, we will never come back and absolutley won't recommend this place to vegans/people looking for vegan breakfast in Heidelberg.

Cons: unfriendly staff, vegan choices not available as said in the menu

great breakfast place - Edit

If you want to have breakfast or brunch with non-vegan friends, I would definitely recommend this place! They have a sweet and a savory vegan breakfast, and both are going to make you very full.
