Have to try

I love ladybird. The service is perfect, as is the decor, and the food is to die for. My favorite is the fondue.

Ladybird

Just like its sister restaurants, Ladybird is an inventive and delicious vegan establishment. It’s definitely the kind of place you would bring your omnivore friends to show them what vegan food can be. Actually, bring friends here in general — I wanted every single dish on the menu, and because it’s tapas style, I could have had a bite of many different dishes if I had come with more people.

I said I was a 7 on a hungry scale from 1-10, and was told to order 3-4 items. I ordered a bao bun, the tart, the grilled cheese, and the brussel sprouts. The bao bun was AMAZING. Should have ordered more. The brussel sprouts were good, but mostly apple/endive & a little oily. I probably should have ordered the kale salad. The grilled cheese was very good: cashew-based and melty, the cheeses were cheddar and Parmesan. But the standout piece of this meal was the tomato soup!! Seemed a bit salty on its own, but was perfect to dip the grilled cheese in. The tart had a perfectly crispy shell, but because the filling was tomato-based, it also seemed much too salty. like ... hello, tomato-based dishes need less salt!! The arugula salad that came with it was nice.

Ladybird bills itself as a vegetable bar, but tbh the food is better than the drinks. My glass of Cabernet was much better with the food. They are also not the place you want to be if you are in a hurry. To be fair, it took me a bit to decide what I wanted, but it was almost 50 minutes before I had more than the bao bun. A woman was also seated next to me & she left because she had waited 40 minutes and still hadn’t received her food.

Edit: went back and had the kale salad and the fried mac and cheese balls. The mac and cheese balls were nothing to write home about; order something else. I’m glad I tried them before the kale salad though. The salad was extraordinarily salty — it completely ruined my palate for the rest of the meal. I think they are making their food salty so that customers buy more drinks (it’s a “vegetable bar” after all).

Pros: All upscale vegan, Inventive use of veggies — no mock meat, Filling

Cons: Expensive: spent $80 for 3.5 tapas and a drink, Food is TOO SALTY, Very loud — would be hard to be here on a date

Love Ladybird

Ordering tapas style plates is right up my vegan alley. I always want to try everything so an appetizer and entre are less fun than 6 small plates for me! My date and I shared everything and ordered it gluten-free. There were some stand outs: kale salad (wow), grilled cheese with tomato soup (the soup was the best tomato I’ve ever had), choc donut dessert (just fun). I was delighted with the final bill - more affordable than expected!

Solid (Sunday) Night Out

Spendy, but the care put into each little dish is noticeable. Good people on staff, quick to figure out your palette. Great environment.

Bitterness has to be served sparingly and in the measured amount with accuracy.

Very decorative for a plant base venue - gold leaf and ornate fluff. I enjoyed the dessert but the server started complaining about capitalism and economic inequality.
It seemed directed to me because I do require sunscreen but try to use it sparingly and do spend a little too much time with my camera but it is very old and waifish.
I have worked in the service industry longer than he has been alive in much less comfortable places under pressure and think that he should just wing it.

Pros: Great PB chocolate mousse

Cons: Overly decorative , Server preaching anti capitalism to a waif, Pricey

vegan fancy and good

Cute fancy chic place to go. The prices aren’t bad either. I went with my vegan friend and we ordered the buffalo mac and cheese balls (they were good, really crunchy on the outside), the mozzarella sticks (Not really a fan), the avocado croquettes, and the artichoke toast (which was absolutely amazinggg!). The portions are really small, but the food is really good, it’s a nice calm, quiet vibe kind of place.

Favourite vegan resto in NYC... Fairytale!

I used to date a guy who introduced me to Ladybird, as well as their sister restaurants Avant Garden, Cienfuegos and Mother of Pearl (which are all phenomenal) - but I kept coming back here because of the incredible - and constantly changing - menu. The fried avocado and black ponzu are amazing, love the individual fondues and you can often find half price bottles of wine. The ambiance is outstanding and it’s one of those places that really represents upscale vegan cuisine in a unique and dreamy way. After moving to NYC full time; I try to eat here once a week! Haha xx

Pros: Menu, Ambiance

Great fondue and vibe

Accidentally stumbled onto this cute bar/restaurant/lounge and are definitely going to be going back asap. Three of us shared a beautiful fondue spread with a large accompaniment of roasted veggies and other tasty bites. It was all excellent and a lot of fun. It's a big menu of a variety of different dishes featuring a central vegetable prepared in different creative ways. Lots of cool dishes to sample here!

A Beautiful Experience!

As I entered the beautiful, intimate restaurant I was struck by the extravagant decor! It is so well done and we were instantly greeted by the friendliest staff. I took my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday here and they were so kind as to take my request to bring out champaign as we sat down. We then moved on to cocktails, which were to die for, and the menu is full of amazing, unique creations. We then ordered some small sharing plates to start, my favorite being the SAGANAKI. The flaming "mozzarella" just topped it right off! For our main course we shared a delicious spread of vegetables and bread with wild mushroom and onion VEGAN FONDUE! What a dream, I never thought I would get to have this as a vegan!
Overall the staff, presentation, food and drinks were incredible! I highly recommend and cannot wait to go back.

Pros: Friendly staff , Delicious, unique vegan options , Ambiance

Cons: Small seating area , High price point

fancy vegan restaurant

Great food, excellent service but high prices. Be prepared to spend around 70$ per person for a nice dinner and a drink.
Atmosphere is chic and cosy.
