bad place, rude to vegans and customers with questions - Edit
Had the same experience as the reviewer before- was told that a dish was vegan when it had lots of milk, I could smell it, it was that strong. Second time I went they gave a dish which I specifically asked to be prepared vegan and it came with mayonnaise. When I inquired the cook yelled at me and the waitress was to busy to care. Absolutely not recommended, in general their food is very mediocre.

almost no veg options, fish sauce in everything - Edit
la vietnamita used to be a great veg-friendly place, but then their menu changed and now they are no longer as accommodating to vegans and vegetarians. The staff is not knowledgeable about which dishes are vegetarian or vegan: for example, a waitress recommended a dish which turned out to have fish sauce in it, according to the chef (luckily, I insisted on asking the right questions!) Even dishes which appear veg-friendly have animal ingredients. Beware!
Cons: few to zero veg options, fish sauce in everything, unaccommodating, poorly informed staff
