I don't understand the hype around this place - Edit

I'm going to start with the positives. This place is in a very good location. Now that's over with, I'll move onto the negatives.

First of all, their prices are obscene. I understand that it's Miraflores and the rent isn't exactly low, but even compared to other small vegan businesses in the area, their prices are almost laughable. Our 3/4 of a waffle with some fruit and sauce was 27 soles, an alfajor the size of a two pound coin was 7 soles and a pot of tea 12.

And for those prices, I expect great things. I've heard and read very good reviews about this place so expectations were raised even more.

The food fell short of any and all expectations. The alfajor was minuscule and didn't resemble an actual alfajor in any way, shape or form. The tea was fine but it's pretty hard to go wrong with a pot of tea. What disappointed us most of all was the waffle.

It came in two flavour, one that tasted like bitter orange and the other vaguely resembling chocolate. It was topped with a chocolate sauce (despite being ordered with ice cream), which wasn't sweet and tasted more like coffee than chocolate and was chalky at best. On the side we got some fruit, marmalade and miel de chancaca. Again can't go wrong with those but I'm not inclined to pay that much for a pot of fruit with some jam and syrup.

Maybe the rest of the menu has better things but I won't be going back any time soon to try it out.

Pros: location

Cons: food, price

Nice little restaurant. Very friendly staff that speaks English. Awesome desserts.
I had the quiche and also split a veggie burger. The quiche was delicious.
Very nice atmosphere and one of the better vegan restaurants in the misaflores area.

Good food, friendly staff - Edit

We were delighted to find this vegan cafe and bakery near our hotel in Lima.

We didn't have to wait long for food but we played a quick game of dominos and pick-up sticks (the next night) until the food arrived. The cafe is small but appears to be very popular for all ages.

We enjoyed their veggie burger, quiche, and desserts. Everything we had was tasty and good quality. I wish we had a place close to home like this!

Pros: Tasty food, Friendly staff, Good value

Cons: None

Very fresh very nice - Edit

The place is vegan and they offer a good variety of options for lunch/dinner. I myself had a sandwich that had as main ingredient a beautifully cut avocado (kind of resembling a salmon). It was accompanied with a nice pesto.

I paid less than 8 USD for the sandwich and a juice.

Pros: food presentation, service

Great! - Edit

I got the quiche of the day which came with salad and a chilled chai. It was about $13 USD I think, maybe more. The quiche was AMAZING. Granted I might not remember what real egg and cheese taste like but it was one of those experiences where you get suspicious that it has real egg and dairy because it's so good! Of course I'm not suggesting it did! Everything there is vegan. The chai was less good. It was yummy but kinda meh. I would try something else in the future.

Pros: Close to my hostel (Casa Hualpa owned by this woma, Good hours (I tried to go to a different restauran, Very chic modern atmosphere.

I wish I had it back home. :) - Edit

I visited La Verde twice during my last visit to Lima. This place is run by the owners of El Almazen, a few doorsteps away.

We had quiches, tarts and other desserts (although there is a "dessert menu", it is not so stable, so it's necessary to check what they have on that day).

Everything was delicious, specially the potato quiche and the "Ponche Andino", a drink which is actually more of a porridge which felt very nutritious. The only thing I can note is that, although I enjoyed it, the "alfajor" texture and taste was far from the traditional one.

The staff was very friendly and attentive to each of our requests; and the atmosphere was pleasant.

The cafe is rather small, but if gets packed they are willing to make some extra space for you.

Pros: everything is tasty, service, good value and good quality

Cons: none

What a lovely little cafe - Edit

My first time in Peru and I found this 100 per cent vegan cafe and store. For starters I had the mushroom spinach and onion quiche at 20 sol which is approximately 4 English pounds then chocolate ice cream with waffles. The food is excellent and well worth a visit if you're visiting miraflores Lima. The staff were very pleasant and spoke english which was a great help. The only downside is that it isn't open at the weekends.

Pros: Quick and polite service, 100 per cent vegan, Good vaiety of meals

Cons: Not open at weekends

Good but expansive food - Edit

Went there 2-3 times, and I had the falafel and the "Mediterranean platter". Everything was good, but I found it quite expansive (S/.17 for a sandwich, something like S/.14 for the platter if I remember well) especially given the quantity (the Mediterranean platter is a bit of hummus, a bit of baba ghanoush, some oiled eggplant slices and dry bread, more like a starter for me). It reminds me of the AlmaZen which also have high prices. Good thing is they have a wide selection of vegan desserts, but I don't think I'll go often.
A good address apart from that.

delicious but expensive - Edit

I don't mind paying top dollar for organic and gourmet food bit the portion size here was ridiculous! it was so delicious, my hungry boyfriend and I wanted to get 2 more rounds of our dishes but we simply could not afford.

Cozy Organic Cafe - Edit

La Verde is a very quaint casual cafe style restaurant. They serve sandwiches, desserts, and they have a soup and quiche of the day. They also have sangria and beer.

The decor is very cute and the food was great, although the portions were small. If you order anything without a price ask the price as we were a bit surprised to see the sangria we ordered was 20 soles each. The "La Verde" was delicious and definitely hit the spot, while the Mediterranean plate had delicious hummus but again the portion was quite small.

We had a pineapple coconut cake for dessert that was delicious. All in all I would definitely recommend La Verde although it would probably be better for lunch.
Staff speaks English!

Terrific Cafe compliment to AlmaZel - Edit

Cafe across the street from AlmaZel, run by the same proprietor Henry who also has a stall at the Saturday farmer's market (Bioferia), all of which are highly recommended.

Nice selection of vegan entrees and desserts, such as Quiche, Sandwiches, Cakes, Cookies, Ice Creams, Brownies, Pies, and fresh baked Breads. Sampled the Pecan Pie and Brownie and they were delicious.

Pros: Vegan Options

Super tasty food - Edit

La Verde is super close to the Kokopelli Lima hostel, so it was really convenient for me to visit. We had the Schawarma and the La Verde sandwiches, which were really good. Fresh, seemed like they were prepared from scratch, with great flavours. Really impressed.

Pros: 100% vegan, Tasty food, Nice vibe
