Good Vegan Options

My wife and I got the fajita veggies, as we usually do, off the veggie menu. They do them in oil and it's served with white rice which does have some light seasoning. Saves from having to ask the Lard question about the yellow rice....along with black beans and pico. The flavor on the veggies was one of the best we've had! A nice char as well! Makes me curious about their other offerings but by the time we get down to Wilkes-Barre again, we will be getting the fajitas again lol

Pros: Understood Vegan, Very accommodating, Flavor was amazing

I only eat out at a few places but La Tolteca is a big one. I get the vegetarian fajitas. Sometimes they put cheese on the beans by mistake, but not usually. I've specified no cheese but they say it doesn't come with cheese, so I think The kitchen staff just mess up sometimes. The veggies you get are enough to warrant asking for an extra pack of tortillas! I hate that they put thick cut carrots in there but I just pick them out. I really love it especially when I have vegan sour cream at home to put on.

Pros: Local, Friendly staff

Cons: Mix ups with cheese

Waitstaff may not understand vegan

La Tolteca offers a “Vegan Bowl” on the menu however there have been many times that it included shredded cheese or sour cream on top. They have always re-prepared the dish but it’s important to indicate to your server to add no cheese or sour cream to the vegan bowl. When prepared correctly the dish is very tasty.
