La Ruta Vegana

By far the best restaurant in all of Mazatlan! Not just because of the food but because of the staff and the service. Super friendly, sweet all vegan staff. Pamela in the kitchen is probably the best vegan Mexican chef around! I recommend asking for her special papas chorizo tacos dorados. The restaurant is super comfortable and very animal friendly. You could spend hours there.

I am so happy Happy Cow exists and helps us find places like La Ruta Vegana. This is a great find in the meat and fish-strewn restaurants of Mazatlan. There is a good choice of Portobello and soy burgers, hot dogs, pizza (with potato starch-based cheese), tacos, and some fake meat entries. On our visits, we tried just about everything. The vegan brownie and vegan ice cream (I had a half-scoop of vanilla and a half-scoop of nut) was a great finish. Of course, I saved room.

The staff are lovely, and they are super animal lovers. Even their sign inside says "We don't eat meat be we can't. We don't eat meat because we don't want to do so." Wonderful vegans. We chatted with them a lot during and after our meal.

Coming to Mazatlan you know you will have a hard time finding Vegan food as it is, but to find a completely vegan restaurant? Food was awesome and La Ruta had a lovely atmosphere. Complimentary ceviche de soya was brought to the table first. Menu included burgers, hot dogs, tacos and more. We had a portobello burger and a trio of tacos. Tacos were awesome and the Bella burger was one of the best I have had. Desert included a vegan brownie with coconut milk vanilla ice cream. We will definitely return for more!
