El hierro is only just beginning to realise veganism 2019

This is not a place with wide vegan knowledge in general, but when I visited 12.2019 one of the (younger) staff (possibly the daughter of the owner) was so eager to ensure I had a vegan appropriate option that also was gluten-free I thought recognition of their adaptability should be given.
They can do salad, smoked peppers, vegetable soup (chunky vegetable stew), chips and were happy to present a mix of ingredients to provide a reasonable meal.
*don’t mistake their weren’t vegan specific options when I visited; they adapted*
*this is a mainly meat restaurant on an island where (2019) there are not many options to dine out, but the staff showed willing to adapt*
*our host was extremely welcoming and willing to ensure our dining enjoyment *

Pros: our host (owner’s daughter?)interested in veganism, Expensive but excellent smoked pepper, Nice view
