Nice place, nice food, really attentive staff - Edit
I wish I could have had a whole pile of their regular banana bread! OMG! That was so so good! I also had a vegan pizza with olives and mushrooms. For me it could have been a bit more mushrooms and maybe a sprinkle of parsley.. Without green it looked a bit sad somehow but it was tasty. The cheese was creamy although it did not have that gooeyness of the Domino's vegan cheese that I find quite addictive unfortunately. At least I bet the ingredients are way better! The balsamic they provide went also very well with the pizza!

The staff was super attentive and always running like crazy and their English was very good! Perfect service!
And maybe book a table or so, I had to wait a 10-15min, they don't have many tables.
I loved their thick wooden plates by the way! Great look, great feel!

Read moreStaff was friendly and speaks English, but the service was really bad. We waited a lot even though the small place was not full and they were 4 or 5 staff members.
They mistaken with our pizza and drink order, we had cutlery for one person. We waited so much to get the dessert that we left taking it away.
Everything was overpriced.

Really helpful friendly staff who speak great English - we ordered delivery and got artichoke and vegan cheese pizza, an empanada and a banana muffin for dessert. Slightly more on the pricey side for small portions but honestly the pizza was so delicious we didn’t mind - the almond cheese is really creamy and tasty.

El restaurant es caro para lo que se acostumbra en México, pero el ambiente es agradable y la comida es sabrosa, se agradece que tengan opciones veganas y sin gluten. Me hubiese gustado probar la lasagna pero justo no les quedaba vegan, sin embargo la pizza estaba muy rica.

This place is slightly pricier than other restaurants in oaxaca - but understandably so, given they have vegan cheese for pizzas, almond / oat milk based cheese sauce for lasagne etc. The guy who served us was super friendly and helpful, and not just because he spoke fluent English and saved us from our ongoing performances of very dubious Spanish! Excellent micheladas here, if you're into spicy salsa beers, and wonderful vegan carrot cake

We had a pesto pizza, was plain good. Also hot chocolate and kombucha. Staff was really friendly and they have a vegan menu, so you dont have to explain anything.

I would give this place 5 stars if Happy Cow allowed it! This pizza was seriously the best pizza I’ve ever had anywhere. We got one pizza with soy chorizo and mushrooms and the other one was a margarita with onions and artichoke hearts. So good! Would recommend this place to anyone.
Read moreFor Mexican standards it’s a bit expensive, but if you’re used to EU/US prices it won’t be much of a shock for you. Plus it was worth every peso in my opinion.

La Matatena offers very delicious vegan pizza (I had the one with mushrooms and black olives and vegan cheese) They also have a vegan carrot cake for dessert, or hot chocolate, or soy milk for the coffee. There’s also a vegan lasagna on the menu, but it wasn’t available on the day we went.

The pizza it's fine, some vegan option whit vegan cheese really good, based on almond and not to sticky in the mouth like the Daya based on coconut oil.

Matatena Pizzeria is a pizza place, like the name says, offering amazing gluten-free crusts (made from quinoa) and vegan options (including cheese). The vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free pizzas were clearly labeled on the menu which was helpful.
Read moreI ate dinner here and ordered the Margarita Pizza which had tomato sauce, tomatoes, basil and cheese and it was fantastic and so tasty – one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. They also served kombucha and a variety of other pizzas that could be made vegan and gluten-free. The restaurant was located a block or two from the Zocalo inside a charming colonial building. There were two floors for seating with the second level having a balcony overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The atmosphere in the evening was very nice and pleasant with soft music playing in the background. The service was excellent with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was very impressed by this place!

These guys have heaps of vegan options and also gluten free bases made from quinoa. AAAAANNNDD.... they just started stocking locally made vegan cheese made from nuts, sweet potato and herbs!

This place is a perfect pizza spot in a gorgeous building.
