REMOVED: La Margherita Restaurant

This has to be my favourite, regular, place that we eat. There are not many non vegetarian places that you can just turn up to and receive an amazing three course meal! There are vegan options on the menu but I can't remember the last time I actually had one of these. Normally I go 'off menu' as the options that Maria comes up with are truly delicious. She knows my food tastes now and preferred portion size and so I am happy to try anything she offers! Obviously advance notice helps them out, but it isn't necessary. As soon as you ask for vegan options Maria will create a handwritten menu for you or talk you through what she can offer. Everything is cooked from fresh. Because this restaurant also serves meat options, it makes it a great choice when dining out with family and friends who may not want to eat vegetarian or vegan food. Everyone then gets something they would really like. However, might be worth persuading them to try the vegan options as they won't be disappointed!! You are never rushed with your meal and the staff are always friendly. Definitely worth a visit. The only reason for a rating of 4 is due to the fact that it is not fully vegetarian. If I was scoring on food alone it would definitely be a 5!

This is the perfect restaurant for a vegan to eat at with non-vegetarians - it means that everyone is happy. The vegan menu is brilliant, it's not often that you get a three course vegan meal in a non-vegetarian restaurant where you actually have choices for each course. Even the avid meat eater thought the vegan food looked and tasted amazing.

The staff were lovely and incredibly friendly, and came over to have a chat with us after we'd finished our meal which made us feel very welcome.

I genuinely could not recommend this restaurant enough, and if Happy Cow would let me give it 5 stars then I definitely would. We've already booked a table for our next meal there.

Well, as ANOTHER regular visitor to La Margherita in Rugby, I have to reiterate how amazing the food (and drinks) are. Eating mostly vegan foods, nothing is ever too much trouble for Maria and her colleagues. Always a friendly welcome, a great atmosphere and - as the other reviewers have mentioned - the food is wonderful. It's always served very well, hot, plentiful and at a great price! What more could you want?! If you've been here before,.. go again, it'll be just as good as you remember. If you've not been and you're within 50+ miles, then what are you waiting for. Give them a call and book a table. Great for intimate candle-lit dinners, family gatherings, secret birthday celebrations and open Monday to Saturday evenings. You'll not be disappointed.

First off my honesty declaration... We know the chef and we eat here a lot.
Secondly, this restaurant advertises itself as Mediterranean style of cooking serving numerous meat and fish dishes. So for Vegan idealists it may not be, er, ideal. The good news is you can take your non-vegan friends and family and everybody will be happy.

Ask for Maria, she is vegan and cooks amazing vegan dishes. She is there most nights. Don't be put off if you see only a few vegan choices on the printed menu. Maria hand writes the vegan menu every night - you simply ask for it.

You can go to this restaurant and get three courses, fully vegan, any night of the week (closed on Sundays). They are all inventive and cooked with French skill and flair. We eat here a lot because it is great and undiscovered. The surroundings are lovely, the restaurant is clean and well furnished with an understated up market look. My wife and I recently went to the much vaunted 222 restaurant in London (twice!) and whilst it was good, La Margherita is in different league.

Back to the food - that is why you eat at any restaurant. The food here is amazing. It is the best vegan cooking I have had anywhere. The puddings are excellent. Me and my wife often go in saying we will just have the mains and end up getting starters and puds because they sound so tasty.

They do homemade falafel, a lovely celeriac & cabbage slaw, chick pea farinata, all kinds of relishes, Quinoa dishes, vegan cheesy garlic bread, etc. It is Mediterranean inspired French cooking. They have vegan wines...

I would have rated it five stars but I cannot as it is not a solely vegetarian restaurant.
Give this restaurant a try - you will not be disappointed.

Have eaten here with Vegan friends several times and the food is always delicious. It's worth checking if Maria is on before going as she caters really well for vegans and will happily knock up a few things that aren't on the standard menu for you. Really high quality of food on offer and very worthwhile restaurant to try out.
