Excellent vegan options!!!

This is a cozy restaurant. Even if it's not vegetarian/vegan, it has many vegan options. They're tasty and delicious! In addition, the owners are Polish, so they usually serve some vegan Polish dishes. Last but not least, it is extremely clean.

Pros: The dishes , The friendly and careful staff, Fair and good prices

Good food with friendly service

Offers plenty of vegan options and will customize dishes to your liking. They have menus in English and friendly server spoke English as well. Everyone in our party liked their food and the Moroccan mint iced tea was also delicious.

(Note, if coming from out of town, do not attempt to drive there directly with GPS. Street is one way, very small and easily blocked. Navigate to nearby Parking Carabeo lot or similar. We were very stressed and rushed due to this simple mistake and did not get time for dessert.)

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Friendly service, Great food

Delicious food, super service!

Great vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options at this friendly restaurant. Stands out from the usual tourist places. 3 of our party enjoyed really fresh sea bass, while one had a lovely beef goulash and I had the red curry with tofu. Very tasty. Very accommodating to our needs. Fresh juices and desserts were also amazing. Will definitely be back!

Pros: Good portions, delicious food , Great value, Friendly service

Cons: Traffic if you sit outside

Great quality

Went here my first evening, because I read the comments on happy cow. I really liked the food. They have a few vegan options, but will veganize almost every dish if you ask. The staff is very friendly and Carlos, the owner introduces himself to every guest. Really nice restaurant in Nerja, they know their vegan customers.

An absolute must

An absolute must if in Nerja!!!! What can I say about this place? It really was beyond perfect for our first night. We were a bit apprehensive due to some reviews I had read as I have dietary requirements but honestly don't let anything put you off. From the minute we entered we felt so comfortable. The service and food was beyond expectations and really reasonable prices. We just have to mention also how hard working and great the blonde hair lady was. She should be really proud of her restaurant and the impeccable service she provides in a relaxed manner. Regarding food there is plenty of vegan options and some of the best I have had in a long time. Yes you wait a bit longer but that is all part of the lovely calm atmosphere you want to feel whilst on holiday. What a true treasure of a place! Would recommend the morroccan chickpea dish and they also have vegan desserts

Pros: Lovely atmosphere , Tasteful food , Reasonable prices

Cons: Slow and relaxed

Easy to read menu

Ordered the red curry tofu wook, but there was hardly any curry, and it was a little bit dry. Waiter share some inappropriate awkward jokes. Other than that the food was good :)

Tasty and nice service

I had the curry with tofu and it was delicious!! The service were good and the staff was friendly and nice. First I got the curry with beef instead of tofu which they were very sorry about and gave us some discount. Maybe a little pricey, but the quality of the food was great.

Pros: Tasty and well prepared food, Nice staff, Nice atmosphere

Cons: A little pricey, Got beef first instead of tofu

Very tasty!

I went to La Joya for lunch and I had the vegan burger with fried potatoes on the side. The burger was very good, made with courgettes, carrots, mushrooms, walnuts and seeds and it came inside fresh bread! I didn't want vegan cheese or avocado with the burger , so I asked if I could have grilled aubergines and hummus instead, and they brought some on the side for me. Potatoes were handmade and fresh! Everything really good. I would go again!

Too big a price for too little...

Nerja is a city filled with tourist so catering to us vegans is necessary if you own a restaurant and want a slice of the pie. La Joya has vegan options. The vegan options are prepared well but very slowly. Yes, it was a busy night but I waited almost 45 minutes for my meal. When it was served I was underwhelmed. God taste but a rather small portion. When the check was presented I was overwhelmed. I have eaten in some of the better vegan restaurants in NYC and did not pay that much for the amount of food I received. For this reason, I cannot recommend the restaurant as a dining option.

Pros: Nice atmosphere..., Friendly wait staff..., Food is good

Cons: TOO EXPENSIVE!, Kitchen is slow.

over priced

A few vegan options, food tastes good but is really over priced for what you get and the place itself is not that posh to charge £17 for burger and chips! We also had some tofu curry with rice noodles and it was £14,5. Soup for £6,5. Happy to find some vegan food in Nerja, but would not go again.

Pros: friendly staff, near the beach

Cons: over priced

Best Vegan Restaurant in ALL of Nerja

My family and I visited Nerja for 7 days this past week, both my Dad and I are Vegan. I was nervous that I would only be eating Fruits and Veggies the whole trip. La Joya was suggested to us by a family friend. The restaurant's atmosphere is beautiful and cozy, with local artwork, excellent music playlists, candles on the tables and outdoor seating in addition to indoor. The tables are always set perfectly upon arrival. The food itself is the most amazing thing I have tasted! Authentic ingredients, everything made from scratch and unique. The portions are well planned out, the salads are large and staged beautifully, one salad filled me. I recommend any of the vegan salads! I've tried them all. The appetizers are delicious, my favourite was the pate and aromatic garlic bread! A treat to your tastebuds! The whole menu lends itself to accommodate meat eaters in your family, vegetarians and vegans. There is something for everyone which is why we are there three times. If you're feeling peckish around lunch time, La Joya prices their desserts at 1 euro each and has many specials. Now the staff is one of the best things about the restaurant, the wait staff speak excellent English, they totally understand Vegan diets and make accommodations. They're quick to deliver the food, they are polite and give you space while you eat. They are also great conversationalists and truly care about your experience there. My dad wanted a mint style coffee that was Vegan, they didn't have one on the menu so they handmade him on from scratch. The second night we went the waitress/bartender was not there who made it, so the current waiter called her at home to ask for the recipe, and 10 minutes later she showed up with the mint liquor flavoring by bicycle. We were astonished at how generous and completely accommodating they were. In Canada wait staff would NEVER do anything like that ever. If you do go please tip these people well! They put so much time, effort and care into everything they do. If they make a mistake they will not only fix it but do their best to make up for it in anyway. I HIGHLY recommend La Joya for anyone to eat at, but especially Vegans! They are the most accommodating restaurant I've ever been to. I look forward to vacationing next year and eating there every night! Thank you La Joya!

Pros: Incredible Food, Phenomenal Staff, Beautiful Atmosphere

Cons: No Cons

Poor vegan options

Tasty food but over priced and not many choices for vegans. I had a nice morrocan curry but it doesn't come with rice or bread..that you have to order separately and it is about €4 extra! My husband had a good veggie burger but if you want chips you have to pay €4.50 on top of the all ready pricey meal. The waitress was friendly, but didn't know if the hummus was vegan..she had to go and ask. For a restaurant that advertise as a vegan veggie friendly place I would expect that the staff knew what was vegan..especially hummus. ..

Pros: Found vegan food in Nerja, Tasty, Clean washrooms

Cons: Over priced , Lack of choice, No rice or potatoes with mains

Really really nice place

As we came into "La Joya", there was a really friendly woman who greets us. When she gave us the english menu, she asked, wether we´re vegetarian. As I answered that I live vegan she took the time to describe which meals they could prepare vegan and fastly she went to the kitchen to ask, wether the daily soup is vegan (it was). I took the Veggie Burger and it was delicous. There was a patty made out of nuts and vegetables (carrots, spinach, etc.), avocado, dijon mustard, fresh salad and some more ingredients. Last but not least: The location is comfy.

Pros: delicous food, great service, comfy environment

Cons: It isn´t cheap, but the prices are fair.

Good For Non-veg Restaurant

Very friendly staff who clearly explained what they could make vegan for us. Even had soya milk. Only a couple of vegan options buy they were very good. With outside seating as well.

Pure Joy for the Tastebuds

Joya by name, Joy by nature. The food at this restaurant is absolutely spectacular. It was truly delicious. The flavour combinations were brilliant ... both subtle and complex... every single thing that touched our tastebuds on the several occassions we dined there, was superb. The staff were incredibly friendly, and I cannot speak highly enough of of this establishment.

Pros: Top notch flavours, Many vegetarian dishes

Cons: Service a little slow
