This was literally the best place I’ve ever eaten in my two visits to PR! The avocado toast was incredible as were the sweet potato pancakes.

A must-visit! Amazing chickpea scramble and smoothies in a relaxing space. - Edit
I wish I took more photos to capture how awesome this place was. One of my top vegan experiences in San Juan, if not my #1 favorite spot. It’s technically a vegetarian restaurant, but the great majority of items are vegan. We ate at La Isla twice in one week, it was so good. My favorite item was the chickpea scramble. I was expecting some kind of “just egg” type situation made with chickpea flour. But it’s even better: a scramble made with whole chickpeas with the most flavorful seasoning. Basically a chickpea curry shaped into a little brick and covered with incredible green cilantro sauce and pumpkin cream sauce. So innovative, healthy, and delicious. On our first visit, we got the chickpea scramble as part of the vegan Isla brunch sampler, which comes with avocado, toast, and a choice of French toast or pancakes. All delicious. When we returned, I asked the waiter if it was possible to get just a plate of the chickpea scramble, because I liked it so much. You basically have to get it as part of either the brunch sampler or on top of avocado toast, which is what we got on our second visit. Delicious. Their soup of the day (made with white beans and malanga) was also excellent. The lunch special, a beet burger, was incredible.
Read moreTheir drinks also deserve special mention. They have an incredible lineup of smoothies. The best one is a bright pink one made with beets (not always available). The chupacabra (made with espresso) and the papaya cinnamon one are also great. The “cold chocolate” (exactly what it sounds like) was also excellent. The ginger shots were great too.
The ambience is great too - a huge sun-filled space with an open kitchen and an adjoining eco-friendly shop. They hold yoga classes in the restaurant a few evenings a week, to give you an idea of how relaxing and pleasant the space is.

Awesome place and amazing food! - Edit
The smoothies, pancakes, and French toast we got were all delicious. It’s super exciting to find a restaurant that allows customers to bring their own carryout containers and charges extra for disposable containers! They also have a packaging-free shop with lots of bulk goods. Don’t miss a chance to visit La Isla!

Lovely Space - Edit
La Isla has delicious vegetarian food with many vegan options in a beautiful setting. I had the stuffed avocado salad and it was delicious. The iced latte with cashew milk and maple syrup was also great. It’s been hard to find vegan food in Puerto Rico so it was nice to have some choices here. I definitely recommend.

Truly Amazing! Must go! - Edit
We went here after visiting El Moro in Old San Juan. This was our last day in PR and we wish we found this place when we arrived. This food was out of this world phenomenal. Cafe with workstations, dog friendly, has a refillery- all ghetto things we love. Awesome atmosphere and helpful staff. We got a fresh juice, sweet potato pancakes and a chickpea quesadillas. The pancakes are like a heavenly dessert so fresh with pecans, fruit and piping hot. The quesadillas are creamy, flavorful and so satisfying. They have a cilantro flavor so if you don't like cilantro chose something else. This food was so good it's definitely a reason to visit the island again!

Holy [censored], SO good! - Edit
Seriously, the vegan sweet potato pancakes might be the best thing I've ever eaten. This place is a little oasis in the city. I wish everything were vegan, but other than that, *mwah!* chef's kiss! If I'd known how good it was, I would have come here every day of my trip to try more of the menu! And the zero waste store that shares the space is great as well.

Tasty - Edit
I loved the atmosphere and that it seemed to be at least mostly run by women. The food was delicious but a bit pricey. Super healthy though, just kinda small portions for what you’re paying for…

I’m so happy I found this place. There are lots of vegan options. Most of the desserts are vegan. The smoothies are delicious and I took one to go. I had the chickpea quesadillas and Pa’Pa Passion smoothie. The freshness and flavours really made my day! The smoothie had the perfect amount of sweetness.

La Isla is a beautiful space. The staff was kind and accommodating. Most things have a vegan version and the food is delicious. I got a smoothie with soursop and loved it. The “cold chocolate” will amaze you. The espresso was delicious. I was able to pick up some prints by local artists for souvenirs. Support this place! You won’t regret it.

Vegan brunch sampler *BEST VEGAN FRENCH TOAST* - Edit
The vegan chickpea scramble with the cashew cheese was really yummy, but the highlight for me was definitely the vegan french toast! It was so flavorful and with the crunch of the nuts was perfect! Best french toast I’ve had 😋 The iced cappuccino was delicious and foamy! (I picked the homemade cashew milk), it goes well with the vegan pastries that they offer. Would definitely visit again! 🌱
