Tres Bonnie! - Edit

We had the 2 course lunch, great value at £9.50. We arrived just before it opened and mouth was already watering reading the menu! Didn't actually realise that it was the previous day's menu and I'd already got my heart set on one of the desserts so when we saw that day's menu I was gutted! However after starters and main I asked the very lovely waitress if there was any chance of sampling the lime and pink peppercorn meringues with chocolate dipping sauce and I was in luck! They are so delicious, sounds a bit of an unusual combination but I highly recommend them!!!

Our starters and main courses were pretty fab too, very fresh and arrived promptly.

Great atmosphere, decor and finishing touches with napkins in napkin rings, with a lovely artichoke illustration. We need this type of restaurant on the south coast!

Pros: excellent food, good value, friendly staff

Welcome (relatively) recent restaurant - Edit

My wife and I have been twice (and eat out twice a week on average) and were very impressed in some ways - very good food and ambience makes this potentially the best vegetarian restaurant in town, but two criticisms:

- I don't want my main course to arrive within seconds of my starter being cleared away when I'm out for a "proper" meal, and

- staff can be a little too pleased with their "we're not vegetarians but saw an opportunity" approach to the world.

Slow down and respect your customers then we, and I suspect others, will be regulars. Would really like to give this an excellent rating but doesn't deserve it yet.

Pros: Very good food, Good decor/ambience, Friendly staff

Cons: Not so fast, please, Show vegetarianism more respect, the special artichoke-based menu is a bi

Great restaurant - Edit

I really liked this place. Although a bit more upmarket and expensive than some other restaurants, it wasn't ridiculously priced, and I think it was worth it. They were really friendly in there, and the food, although the portions looked a little small, really weren't and were very filling! I would definitely go back if I lived there, and besides, I want to try desert!

Pros: friendly staff, gorgeous food

Cons: more expensive than some restaurants

Imaginative food, great service, good ambiance - Edit

We've just returned from a wedding anniversary meal in this lovely restaurant. The ambiance was perfect - good for couples or for larger groups for whatever the occasion, the restaurant was warm and the decor was pleasant with good lighting levels, service was particularly good (ie attentive but not overbearing, caring rather than robotic, unpretentious), and the food was imaginative and delicious with excellent flavour combinations. Being a veggie who was delighted to have a variety of vegan & gluten-free options to choose from, I've tried all the vegetarian eateries in Edinburgh but this definitely stands out as the best (view from both my carnivorous husband & I) on all counts (& a very welcome change from the buttery risotto tokenistic veggie option often associated with French eateries).

Pros: Delicious, imaginative food, great service, good ambiance
