Restaurante - Edit

Good cake but not all that responsive staff - Edit
For those who might not know, "fiambrera" means lunch box in Spanish, but "fiambre" means both cold cuts AND, informally, corpse. Similarly, "carnicería" means butcher's shop as well as bloodshed. So there you have it, some linguistic honesty that exposes carnism for what it is, and somewhat ironic that a business with this name winds up on HappyCow.
Read moreI had previously dropped by this place and enquired about vegan options, which, if I'm not mistaken, were a few. This morning though, all one could get in terms of savoury items was a hummus toast. True to form, I was more into sweet stuff, was told there was a brownie and banana bread (apparently nobody sells products with Spanish sounding names anymore), and opted for the latter. Slightly shocking to learn it would cost 4.90 euro! "It must be family-sized", I objected, only to be offered the smaller size instead, one euro cheaper. Why not disclose this from the start? As staff were taking my order, I expressed my wish to receive the item on a napkin, since I was going to eat it straightaway. Oblivious to my request, I was still given a paper bag, together with no fewer than four napkins, which I had turned down.. but somehow they weren't into listening to customers. I returned all but one of them, exited this business, and proceeded to eat the banana bread... which, it must be said, was quite good.

Read moreI'd like to clarify LaFiambrera actually means Lunch Box, and the name of this business refers to that: Lunch Box. It's a little confusing but the meaning is Lunch Box, and they make reference to how the owners grand father use to have lunch while they were working, since they were farmers.
Infact if you search for the word at the dictionary this is how is defined: "Recipiente con tapa bien ajustada, que sirve para guardar comida o llevarla fuera de casa".
Thats why they very clearly say they offer all their options to go or to be consumed there, at their cozy space.
Is not a vegan restaurant but they have so many things to offer: vegan burrito, vegan breakfast (they make vegan scrambled eggs if you ask, vegan cakes, humus, amazing saldas, with vegan protein such heura or edamame or Tempe...)
Ask the staff they always will have something to offer, and if you pre order they make amazing lasagna to go!
Hope this helps.
Its my top place in Town, they really love what they do, and they care about vegans, special diets and healthy way of living.
Personally loved their vegan banana cake or pastel de plátano un Spanish (they do use the Spanish name)
4'90 big piece/ 3'90 smaller piece all organic and home made i personally happyly pay.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!

Hello,
Read moreI know, and I also know fiambre means corpse:
"3. m. coloq. cadáver.
Sin.:
muerto, cadáver, difunto".
My point is that language is speciesist/carnist, not that La Fiambrera is. Hopefully we as a society will get to the point where we'll happily talk about coconut MILK, or sausages, or soya minced MEAT without even thinking about our primitive, sombre days when we used to consume animals and animal by-products.
Thanks, I guess I was just unlucky on the day of my visit, since they didn't have all that much to offer.
Yeah, maybe the banana bread is worth the money, especially if it's organic (I didn't know. Do you know this for certain?), but my objection was also that they shouldn't take for granted I wanted the bigger piece.
Thanks.
