Pan dulce wonderland!

As someone who grew up indulging in pan dulce created in little hole in the wall bakeries, I really missed it once going vegan. Conchas are one of my favorite treats and it is amazing to be able to have them again! Rich and just the perfect amount of sweet, the conchas produced by La Espiga de Oro are even better than I remember. They have tons of other treats too and since my last visit they have added much clearer signage and a dedicated and labeled vegan case! The people are always sweet and helpful and the hours they are currently open (7 days, 7am to 9pm) allow accessibility for pretty much anyone in the area. Sadly, I am NOT in the area and have to make pilgrimage as often as I can. So yummy!!

Amazing find!

Wonderful selection of vegan traditional pan dulce as well as puff pastries (in addition to the regular non-vegan offerings) in a tiny bakery off Route 99. So delicious and a great value - worth a special trip from the Bay Area! I have changed my regular route to SoCal from I5 to Rt. 99 just so I can stop here and get a large assortment to bring to my friends! The proprietor is so friendly, I encourage everyone to support his business!

Pros: Selection, Value, Friendly owner

Variety of vegan pan dulce

Pan dulce heaven - tons of different options, best with coffee. They do serve a basic cup of coffee at the bakery. It is great for breakfast but I couldn't wait for breakfast to enjoy the pan.

Awesome Not Overly Sweet

A fantastic hole in the wall!!! Not tons of sugar so not overly sweet. I recommend the pan with the crème, but I got everything and it was all great.

Pros: Lots of vegan items , Not overly sweetened , Great staff

Hidden Gem for Vegan Pan Dulce in Salida

Update: What a rad treat- they cruised over in their company van* all the way to the East Bay for a Vegan Pop-Up! Scored an oreja y cono! It made it home intact! They were also sampling the molé!

I was in the mood for something sweet and this place did not disappoint! Easily identifiable with the brightly colored building, delicious smelling as soon as you walk in. Reminds me of a traditional Mexican panadería but this one has SO MANY vegan options! I haven’t had Mexican bread in more than a decade and it was so delightful! The gal was super friendly and helpful! I absolutely recommend this spot and would totally come back!

Yummy

I try to go once a week for pan. I love waking up to pan and coffee in the morning. They sometimes label what is vegan, but if they do not, ask. There are usually at least 5 options for bread and cookies. Sometimes there is a specialty item like cake by the slice. Prices range from $1 for pan to $4 for cake slices. They also carry vegan mole in large jars in the fridge section that is very good!

Pros: Fresh pan

If I could give 5 stars I would

Vegan friendly pan(bread) is amazing and I’m glad I can finally write a review for them. All your favorite pan is here in a separate vegan case. Family owned with a welcoming atmosphere.

Great options.

The options are great, there's always at least 3 or 4 options, and usually more. They taste just like non-vegan Pan Dulce. There's also sometimes special options like cupcakes, cakes, and lattes. Also, the staff has always been incredibly friendly and helpful, you can always ask for the available vegan options for the day.

Pros: Lot of options. , Not too expensive.

Cons: Options may be inconsistent.

Awesome selection & family owned

I came out to Lathrop for my husband's work trip & I came across this place. In excitement I went there at night one day, I was greeted with a nice lady but she had told me I would have to place an order before I came out, I was so disappointed because I was leaving the next day. Something in the universe wanted me to try this place because we we're asked to come back out for work the following week! This time I went during the day & I was greeted with a younger lady who happened to be the pastry chef for the vegan options. I had the best conversation with her about the whole family becoming vegan for health issues and how they added the vegan options, she took a gamble at trying to sell vegan items and I'm so glad she did they tasted just like when I was a kid but animal free. Please visit this place if your in town or passing through.

Pros: Several pastry options , Iced horchata coffee with whip

Cons: You might have to place an order ahead of time
