We ate at La Encomienda on our first night in Madrid. We were greeted with "we've saved the best table for you!"
Read moreThe staff here are really friendly and helpful. They have good English so it's possible not to embarrass yourself if your Spanish isn't up to much!
We had a delicious appetiser and then moved onto a shared starter of seitan cooked in vermouth which was beautifully presented and really tasty.
For our mains we had the Jackfruit tacos and the Thai sauteed quinoa with breaded mushrooms which was a really clever and tasty combination.
We drank a delicious Chardonnay.
We couldn't manage pudding but people near us had a gorgeous looking brownie!
A really lovely place to eat.

It has a wonderful brunch option. You get a coffee, smoothie, and either avocado toast or a piece of cake for 4.50€. We tried the cake and the toast. Both were wonderful. They also have a vegan artisan cheese board that is super delicious. The pasta with fried cauliflower was also wonderful.

Not a tapas bar - Edit
From the description, we were expecting a tapas bar! There only are 4 tapas dishes though. At the start, the waiter wouldn’t take out order as it was 20:27 and not 20:30 yet... We shared the Mediterranean platter and the seitan tapas: unfortunately neither were very tasty. People around us seemed to have ordered some nice meals, and the venue is nice but our experience was sadly not good. We also had to wait ages to pay and leave.

Buena comida y precio. Los quesos y los tacos de jackfruit estaban bien aunque he comido mejores. No el mejor sitio pero aceptable / Good food an price. The cheese table and the jackfruit ‘tacos’ were good although I’ve eaten better. Not the best place but good.

We had very enjoyable experience in this restaurant. We tried raw kohlrabi lasagna and roasted potatoes with coconut-mango sauce and it was delicious!!! Also the cake was really good. Highly recommended.

In a chic, but not too fancy ambiance you can enjoy all organic drinks here and creative dishes. I came by myself and had a good time sitting at the bar soaking in the atmosphere. Service was attentive and fast, there is free water available and the bathroom was warm and clean. Prices are higher, yet understandable when considering the organic ingredients.

If you are in Madrid you have to visit this restaurant. It was such amazing food and good prices as well. We shared some tapas for starter and tried two different main courses, everything was so delicious and the wine was excellent!

Great place. Beautiful decor and amazing food and the nicest staff. I had walked in after the kitchen closed during the day. I was starved after a long day of travel and they totally hooked me up with food. Came back later that night to thank them and had an amazing meal.

We received a couscous dish when we ordered a bottle of wine. And this plus one tapas and one starter filled up my partner and I! The ‘tofu tartar’ was delicious and well seasoned and the pates plate was similar to having a range of good dips with crackers/ Bread! Really tasty and good for a chat over a bottle of red.

A really warm and welcoming restaurant/bar that was busy enough to create atmosphere but not overly hectic. The food was exceptional and the staff were great. It has a real independent feel about it. Would 100% come back.

Visited here with three friends on a weekend visit to Madrid, (two of us are vegan one vegetarian and one omnivore). We shared a hearty meal of exciting flavours and inspired cooking and were very impressed with the carrot wine! The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, advising us to share 4 starters and 2 mains between us. Probably the best vegan meal I've ever eaten and served in a beautiful place, with handmade light fittings and a cosy atmosphere. Perfect! I just wish I lived round the corner from this place.
