Good Option for Koh Rong - Edit
Considering Koh Rong doesn’t have many vegan options, this Mexican restaurant is actually a really refreshing change from the usual Khmer or Western food on the island. Portion sizes were generous, and the menu advertises that around 95% of items can be made vegetarian or vegan.
Read moreHowever, when it came to ordering vegan food, the staff seemed a bit unsure. They had to double-check multiple times, and I ended up confirming my order 2–3 times just to be sure. The menu mentioned vegan sour cream and alternatives, but there was still some confusion.
I ordered the Chimichangas (the fried, crispy burrito), which came with just rice and beans inside—no salsa or salad—but it actually tasted really delicious and super satisfying.
We also tried the tacos, and these didn’t come with any beans at all. They were literally just tortillas with vegetables, so I think there was some misunderstanding with the vegan request there too.
Overall, the food is tasty and the portions are great, but the vegan clarity could definitely improve. Still, given how limited plant-based options are on Koh Rong, it’s a decent spot to try if you’re vegan and looking for something different.

Yes, it is definitely nice to find a place on Koh Rong that can veganize most of its menu, but the food really wasn't that good. I got the enchiladas – the filling was just random mixed vegetables, and the "cheese" or "sour cream" or whatever it was supposed to be was just coconut milk, so basically the whole dish is soggy and tastes like coconut, not like Mexican food. The rice and beans that came on the side were nice though.

On Koh Rong it is not so easy to find vegan food. Thanks to HC we searched for La Cocina. They understand vegan really well. It is even mentioned on their entrance sign. 95% of their meals can be made vegan. Prices are higher then on mainland but cheaper then hotel restaurant prices.

Finally one restaurant that caters also to vegans.

The burrito was good and a good filling amount too. The staff is friendly.
Besides the monkey hostel and to some degree also the jungle bar and kitchen at the other beach this is the only decent vegan restaurant I found so far.
