A wonderful experience

The experience you get coming here is phenomenal! Clearly the owners love what they do and are passionate.

I believe as of 2023 they are only opened on-demand for large groups so check ahead.

Fantastic fully vegan sugar shack

Super cozy sugar shack (cabane à sucre) that is entirely vegan (used to offer vegetarian options in the past, but now fully vegan). We were there on the first day of this season – they already open in February, so we ended up being the only guests. The owner took a lot of time to answer all our questions and made us feel like home. Everything's either grown and prepared by him and his family or by friends and neighbours, making sure everything is local and sustainable. The food was fabulous and aside from the lack of animal fat, it's very close to the traditional experience you might expect. We had all the things you'd expect to find at your table such as croutons, beans, potatoes, tourtière au millet, scrambled tempeh, pancakes, and, of course, tire à la neige (mapple taffee).

Pros: Fully vegan, super friendly staff, Local food only, Open from February on (before the main season)

Authentic, warm and hearty experience!

It is the whole package that makes this sugar shack a 5 star experience! Upon entering into an ecological house made of hemp surrounded by snow and northern laurentides forest the warmth is revealed. Smiling hosts, greeters and owners (head chef) make you feel instantly at home. A long banquet table where friends new and old gather and sit shoulder to shoulder to eat hearty offerings of pea soup, roasted potatoes, tempeh omelettes, baked beans, and millet pie accompanied by sides of ginger, curcuma kimchee, marinated beets and house ketchup. Followed by buckwheat crêpes, beet and cranberry fall cake, chaga tea and of course maple taffy! It is a place to linger, feast mightily and laugh whole-heartedly. There is even an axe throwing wall to test your country skills, a disc golf course and a 45 min snowshoe hike to the top of the mountain for views that are out of this world.
The food is 100% vegan, organic and as local as it can get. Make the effort you will be very happy you did!

Pros: Service, Location, Food and value

La Cabane a Tuque

The omelette is made with eggs, but there is no chicken in it. There is also eggs in the pancake.
There is a vegan menu too.
