Good but could be improved - Edit
updating to add-they removed extra pictures i posted probably because of the negative review. I got the mini tacos with cheese and they said they were out of potatoes and offered to replace with tempeh which I of course obliged. They were really good and I was very impressed and wanted to come again. I also got a lone star beer in a can served cold. My husband got the oyster mushroom taco and said it was delicious. Our toddler got the chimichanga/chalupa/? Something, which was one of the kids menu items but they were so stale and rubbery we couldn’t eat them. It hurt our teeth to try to pierce them. Our child was crying saying it was too hard to eat so we checked them and they were like chewing ...leather 🤢😱
Read moreWe had a good time and the atmosphere is very good. The ambiance sets a pleasant mood. There are dimmer lights than most eateries, they serve alcohol, and the noise level was very low aside from an obnoxious person who kept throwing f-bombs very loudly while boasting about himself. A woman who had been standing in line waiting with her son left because of them. It made us feel very uncomfortable, but didn’t want to say anything since i think it’s a pub; it has a bar. But nobody asked them to lower their voices as to not disturb other customers which didn’t fit the rest of their efforts which was very low if any music, dim lighting, and hushed tones. The staff was incredibly friendly.
They have bathrooms that anyone can use. We went at dusk when it was around 80° outside and it was hotter inside than outside and no curtains or shade. We left early because of all of these downsides.
We would like to go back but if we have the opportunity to again we will ask ourselves if it’s worth it for stale tortillas, no a/c, and inability to handle disturbances.
Pros: Serves alcohol , Pleasant staff, Great taste
Cons: Stale food, Disturbing customers go untended, Too hot inside if it’s warm outside, no shades

Average service and food - Edit
We had to sit outside in the heat. The service was not very inviting. We were the first customers. The food was ok also. The corn was delicious, but the beans were not seasoned. My burrito was somewhat dry.

Cool vibes, great eats - Edit
This place had a super helpful staff who was willing and able to answer any and all questions that we had about the different options. We ate our meal backwards where we got our entrees first then ordered an appetizer afterwards because we wanted a little more of the deliciousness. Everything was spot on and they were willing to give more than one soda water without charging me for another after I finished the first one, which some places don’t always do. It was outdoor seating with the bar and ordering station outdoors and spillover seating indoors, which was an interesting and cool change of pace from the norm. Would totally go back and try some of the other options.

Five stars! The best “Fish Tacos” I’ve ever had. - Edit
We had the “Fish Tacos” and the “Chayote & Chorizo Torta.” Both fantastic. These “Fish (oyster mushrooms)” Tacos were the best I’ve ever had. The Torta was super good too. Great drink specials and prices. Super friendly staff. We stayed for hours. Can’t recommend this women owned and operated super inclusive business enough.

Deliciousness - Edit
The special happy hour cocktails were delicious: lime, cucumber, mint, vodka with a chili rim. We shared the chayote y chorizo torta and the oyster mushroom tacos... both were awesome. The outdoor seating area is super nice. The staff was great and we totally enjoyed this place. If we lived locally, we’d be here all the time.

The nachos and the quesadillas were very good! I wouldn’t recommend the empanadas though. Get there early before they run out of funnel cakes!

Amazing vibe - Edit
Went here with two non-vegans and we all loved it. In the evenings it seems to be more of a cocktail lounge with great vegan food. Queer friendly and lots of stickers/posters for local politics/community organizations in the bathroom. Nachos and margaritas were delicious. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in San Antonio!

Missing flavor - Edit
When I went the food wasn’t good at all. It was very greasy and dry. The sugarbombs were tasteless. I think the best option in the menu is the burrito and their corn is really good too. The costumer services was pretty bad and there were roaches by the table i was eating at.

Great atmosphere, great food - Edit
I went here twice when I was staying in San Antonio and found the food nice and tasty, and the portions were big. Perhaps, they could add some more different options on the menu, and add some salt to their dishes. Definitely try their cocktails and enjoy the chill atmosphere.

Good, but could be better. - Edit
Everything is made vegan, which is good for those who find that important. Menu had a decent selection, and the grilled corn was very good but the main dishes could use seasoning as they were sort of bland. Recommend the nachos.

Stopped by for quick Sunday lunch while traveling. The nachos were delicious and filling with jackfruit, beans, slaw and avocado. Cocktail was great, too and they have cheap beer options for the thrifty drinker. I would go back at dinner and try the empanadas! Great staff, too- very friendly people!

We also had chips and salsa. It was great too, but they could've given us a little more salsa. We would definitely eat here again.

welcome to TexMex - Edit
Hopped off the plane from California, opened Happy Cow and landed on LaBotanica. I got there for brunch on a Sunday and happily enjoyed the barbacoa jackfruit nachos and tacos as well as a vegan concha. The food was good and I was happy to find a vegan option here in big meat country

Good but small - Edit
The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly. The food was good but the portions are small and it is a bit pricey. Everything on the menu is completely vegan so no worries there. It does get really busy at night so it does take a while to get your food only reason I’m giving it 3 stars.

Great vegan food in a delightfully quirky little establishment - Edit
I was visiting San Antonio on business in January 2018 and tried La Botanica with two nonvegan friends. I'm not sure that they were terribly impressed with what they got, although one of them said that the nachos were the best that he'd ever had. I had the chilaquiles verdes, bread pudding, and hibiscus tea and thoroughly enjoyed them. The chilaquiles were tasty, and the bread pudding was sweet and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I felt right at home.

Great food & atmosphere - Edit
La Botanica has become one of my usual spots to grab lunch/dinner. I've had their nachos, Ms. Bellas, burrito, sweet potato filled empanadas, and mini potato tacos. I'm not a huge fan of their sugar bombs. They're too sweet for my taste. They have a lot more items on their menu than what is listed on their site. The food is always fresh and perfectly fried. The staff is very friendly. I love the casual laid-back atmosphere.
